At our house we are fond of British mysteries. Midsomer Murders, Morse, etc. We are puzzled by this: it seems when a murder is committed and the police get involved, the investigating officers set up an "incident room" near the murder scene. Maybe in a hall, or school, something like that. They haul computers to this room, and set up their desks, etc., and it seems so weird to me. Why? Does this really happen? Wouldn't it just make more sense to keep operating out of their actual building? I know the Brits like to imagine that they live in a Big Country, where it takes up to an hour to drive from one place to another . . . . is that the reason?
