Say what I will? Justin Timberlake is a great singer, a fantastic musician, has great taste in material, and I actively look forward to hearing his stuff on the radio - and I say that as a guy who does not generally like modern pop music.

So, I'll whisper in the dark, hoping you'll hear me.
Maybe it makes me a bad person, but I prefer this over the original:

The cover (1):
Considering the title, the last 15 seconds are interesting.
A more recent version:
Oddly enough I'm watching this DVD right now, although it hasn't got to this song yet.
3:10 is fun, as are the expressions on the faces in the audience, as in all her performances

in response to A G's original
In my very early teens the family used to visit a quaint little Yorkshire village, the main attraction was the stream burbling through it with swans on it.
There was also an excellent little cafe/cofee bar with a juke box and I drove the clientele to despair playing this repeatedly the whole of the time we were there.
It was the first single I bought.

I am prejudiced, but I prefer Pete Seeger's version

It was Karl Denver I first heard and often that kind of spikes it. Not always of course.

Sixpence None the Richer's cover of "There She Goes" is one of my favorites. It's just so utterly sweet.
I heard the Tokens version first, but I've been in the audience several times as Pete led us in singing it, so thus my prejudice.
Sarah Brightman's cover of the Kansas classic "Dust in the Wind."
Pretty much anything written by Bob Dylan sounded better when recorded by others. Blowin
In The Wind by Peter, Paul and Mary, as well as Don't Think Twice, It's All Right, for example.
Political correctness will be the death of our country.
"All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix is the one where Dylan actually said, "I prefer his version."

I actually just linked Zuul to this, so here you go. It's a more recent cover than not:
The Original: Pretty okayish hip pop.
The Cover: Sexily amazing.
Saw these posted on FB today. Both awesome versions of great songs.
This isn't exactly what you'd think of as a "cover song" since the singer probably doesn't have much of her own songs to sing. But it's so sweet and genuine, so much the opposite of the original overproduced and prepackaged song that it almost makes me cry:
