Default Movies that didn't end at all like you expected

I just finished watching an old movie, The Swan, with Grace Kelly, Alec Guinness, and Louis Jourdan.

It had a sad ending! I fully expected, after the comic elements, that Kelly's princess would end up running off with Jourdan's tutor. But he left, with no expected dramatic return, and the princess turned to Guinness' prince and said "Take me inside Albert" and they walked away togeter.

Huh? Well at least it wasn't a cliche.

What other movies have ended up without the ending you fully expected?

    John Sayles's under appreciated Limbo.

actually, everything Sayles does is under appreciated.

The movie builds gently to what must be a climax...

I pretty much expected Lost in Translation to end with the two main characters declaring their love for one another, or something.

Another movie that didn't end like I expected was Free Willy, the Director's Cut (Old Simpsons joke).

"Pay It Forward" is the first film to come to mind.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I don't know what I expected, really, but it sure wasn't that.

I thought Million Dollar Baby was gonna be just another inspiring sports movie.

I don't know whether it's fortunate or unfortunate that Million Dollar Baby had been spoiled for me before I saw it. If it hadn't, I think the movie may have thrown me into a three day long depression.

The ending (along with virtually all the rest of) Very Bad Things.

It's almost like that movie parodies "Let's see how many odd and unexpected twists we can think up!"

    The Right Stuff.

Man, that one left me hanging. Did we ever make it to the moon or what?

Well, conversely, Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Little Mermaid didn't end anything like I expected.
