    Default 10 song iPod shuffle

Show the DoMeBo world what kind of music collection you have: post the next ten random songs to come up on your iPod. Here's mine:

    1. Bust A Move - Young MC
    2. Saved By Zero - The Fixx
    3. Crushing Day - Joe Satriani
    4. My Little Girl - The Jeff Healy Band
    5. Working For The Weekend - Loverboy
    6. Just Look Up - Joe Satriani
    7. Walking Away - Information Society
    8. Gimme Some Money - Spinal Tap
    9. You Don't Know Me - Ray Charles
    10. Where Did Our Love Go - The Supremes

Well, I certainly didn't expect to see Joe Satriani show up twice and Prince not be in there at all. Shuffling kicks ass!
    Hell is other people.

Awesome! [/quote:1c316qcm]Off-topic, but is anybody interested in what Felicia Day is reading these days? I spotted her on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/666892-felicia.

    3. Uninvited, Alanis Morisette
    4. Take a Chance on Me, ABBA

I love Bob. If we had to post a most-listened-to list I'm sure that there'd be a bunch of his work pretty much taking up the top 10/20 on my iPod.

Re. Dr. Horrible - the only problem with having this on my iPod is that I have to restrain myself from singing along in public. (Hey, the title encourages it!)

Does the iPod Classic shuffle? My 'Pod is ancient.

If it did, this might be the list:

Late in the Evening - p. Simon
    Super Rad - Aquabats
Sympathy for the Devil - R. Stones
    Gut Feeling - Devo
    Indian Red - Dr. John
Sultans of Swing - D. Straits
Love for Sale - T. Heads
This is Love - P.J. Harvey
    Slow Freight - R. Bryant
    Penny Lane - Beatles

    Something like that.

    Today's 10 for me:

    1. Thieves In The Temple - Prince
    2. You Better Love Somebody - Rick Springfield
    3. Wouldn't It Be Good - Nick Kershaw
    4. Papa Was A Rolling Stone - The Temptations
    5. Shock The Monkey - Peter Gabriel
    6. Centerfold - J. Geils Band
    7. Ceremony - Joe Satriani
    8. Summmer Song - Joe Satriani
    9. My Little Girl - The Jeff Healey Band
    10. Gotta Broken Heart Again - Prince

Wow, the same Jeff Healey song came up two days in a row and I hit Joe Satriani twice two days in a row! Considering I have over 3200 songs on there, that seems like pretty long odds to me...

Hmm, new shuffle for me then:
    1. Liz Phair, "Shane"
    2. Bob Mould, "The Silence Between Us"
    3. MC Frontalot, "In Arrears"
    4. Tool, "10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)"
    5. boy eats drum machine, "Gun Fight"
    6. Blowoff, "Man Keeps Winning"
    7. The Hold Steady, "Your Little Hoodrat Friend"
    8. Bob Mould, "Old Highs, New Lows"
    9. Therion, "Sirius b"
    10. Thom Yorke, "The Clock"

Seriously, shuffle feature? Two songs off the same album and one by the same artist in a group of his (Blowoff)? Not to mention repeating Thom Yorke and MC Frontalot from yesterday. Sure, I only have less than 1100 songs on the thing, but still.

    Awesome. Saw them live recently.

Took my then 8-year old daughter. They must be the most entertaining G-Rated band on the planet.

I hope they're as cool in person as they seem as an act.

Very much so. Good clean fun. They're mostly Mormon or ex-Mormon, which, regardless of what you think of the theology, makes for some Flanders-flavored, howdy-neighbor folks.

    Mormon? Crazy.

I just know that I can share my love of the Aquabats with my kid.

It's great music and squeaky clean. Love those guys.

I have to say, the iPod Touch I got for Christmas is the best thing I have ever owned, without question. I recommend you mug the first person you see on the street in posession of one and steal it right now! You will not regret it for even one second!

Or, you could, you know, save up for one and buy it. Kinda boring, but that'd work too.

Haven't got an iPod. Must be the only one in the family without at least one of them.
Did have an iRiver, so I could use Ogg Vorbis. Except it didn't. Then it broke.

Got tons of stuff on my phone but dropped my headset as I got out of the car one day, found it a week later squashed as flat as paper. Can't seem to get a replacement.

Come to think of it, I have never used the shuffle play option on any device.

Currently driving my daughter's SAAB cabriolet while she is in Switzerland. She has a multichanger loaded with Harry Belafonte, Fiona Apple (wondered where that had gone!) Dropckick Murphys and The Doors, plus a load of other unidentifiable stuff.
I only have a single CD player in mine, that generally loops the same CD for months on end, years in some instances.
Currently playing: Zhao Cong, Dance In The Moon.

I don't take my iPod to work, and I don't post much from home, so here is what my Last.fm library (about 20% of my music collection has made it to my last.fm library) has when I play it on shuffle.

The Mountain Goats - Distant Stations
    Operation Ivy - Unity
    Screaming Trees - Butterfly
The Rolling Stones - Who's Been Sleeping Here?
The Thermals - How We Know
Modest Mouse - March Into the Sea
Bob Dylan and the Band - Yea! Heavy and a Bottle of Bread
The Silver Jews - Sometimes a Pony Gets Depressed (which is a great fucking song that I haven't thought of in forever)
Thuston Moore - Blues From Beyond the Grave
The Halo Benders - Will Work For Food

And now I've got it too. In my head. Probably for the rest of the week.
It does have a certain earworm quality to it, doesn't it?

    Today's 10:

    1. Don't Change - INXS
    2. Pheromone - Prince
    3. That's The Hold - Kim Mitchell Band
    4. Don't Go - Yazoo
    5. Layla - Derek and the Dominoes
    6. Electik Heat - The Seekwill - k-os
    7. Queen of Hearts - Juice Newton
    8. Another One Rides The Bus - "Weird Al" Yankovic
    9. 1,2 Step - Ciara
    10. You Give Good Love - Whitney Houston

    1. "Speak" - Sevendust
    2. "When I'm Gone" - No Address
    3. "Dirty Thirty" - Crystal Method
    4. "Best of You" - Foo Fighters
    5. "Rocket Man" - Jon Langford and the One Day Band*
    6. "The Game" - Lacuna Coil
    7. "Disgrace" (acoustic) - Sevendust
    8. "Injected with a Poison" - Lords of Acid feat. Praga Khan
    9. "Panama City Motel" - Sugar
    10. "Ya Mama" - Fatboy Slim

    * From an episode of This American Life: a producer of the show contacted Jon Langford (of The Mekons) and worked with him to "matchmake" an unlikely combination of musicians into a band lasting for just one day. Take a jazzy, torch-style female singer, a theremin player, and others, and... have them record "Rocket Man"? You can opt to just listen to/download the song if you'd rather find out right away how it turns out instead of listening to the story segment.

Foo Fighters are kind of hit or miss for me, but this song hits like no other. The first ten times I heard it on the radio, it gave me goose bumps.

    1.Dizzy Boogie - Charlie Parker
2.Only Trust Your Heart - Stan Getz
3.Christmas Vespers, Christe Redemptor Omnium - Monteverdi (Canadian Brass)
    4.Easier - Glen Phillips
    5.Ready - Cat Stevens
6.Prove My Love (Live) - Violent Femmes

    8.Mayfly - Belle & Sebastian
9.Overture to Tannhäuser - Wagner (no info on performers, but it might be Roger Norrington)
    10.Tu Queria - Seu Jorge

Surprisingly mellow, and quite a lot of classical on there. And I think I only have about 50 jazz songs in my library (out of 5000) so it's rare to get them right off the start.

    From my ipod equivalent:

Your Touch - The Black Keys
    Penelope - Pinback
A Boy and His Machine Gun - Matthew Good Band
Walk Like an Egyptian - The Bangles
Hold Her Down - Toad the Wet Sprocket
Uncle Harry - The Living End
The Hollow - A Perfect Circle
Pieces of the Night - Gin Blossoms
    Home - Breaking Benjamin
    Strip Her Down - Cold

I'm just surprised more embarrassing music didn't pop up. I tend to drink and download. I got lucky this time.

    4. Cabinessence - Beach Boys

When adding Manowar, a bunch of oily bodybuilders in He-Man garb, to your iPod makes it less eccentric, you know you're out there. I tip my hat to you.

It used to go from Jem and the Holograms, to Digimon soundtracks (in German or Japanese), to metal, to jazz, to... Now there's a lot of Manowar. So it's just that it's more of the same instead of going from extreme to extreme (my favorite is hymns to Rammstein)
