    Default A Pretty Font

I am using a Mac at home, but a Windows machine at work. I sometimes type a few words at the office and bring them to the apartment on a flash drive.

The Windows machine was set up to use a nice font called "Californian;" it looks good. So I returned hoe and smashed on the icon for the new document. It opened in Open Office. It had the nice California font, but I did not want to use Open Office so I closed it and reopened it in MS Word. Again it had the nice California font.

Rather than change the passage to a more-ugly font, I want to reformat the entire document into California. But the strange thing is "Californian" is not on my font pull-down menu when I open the whole document. It is on the pull down when I open the passage. Someplace my computer knows about this font, but I cannot easily access it.

    Any thoughts?

I'm a little confused, does your document on the Mac at home open in California font or not ?

It seems that the font is embedded in the document and not installed on your Mac. Can you find the font in /usr/share/fonts (this is the path on Linux, which I presume will be the same path on MacOS)?

It opens in both Open Office and MS Word with the pretty California font.

I opened my User/Share folder and found no files at all.

Fonts are stored in several places in OS X. Use the Font Book application (I can't remember if it's in the applications or utilities folder) to preview fonts and find out where they are kept.

Let me get over to Version Tracker and see what I can do. Thanks.
