Default Great music moments in film

I don't necessarily mean musicals (although the title sequence for Singin' in the Rain is one of the most jubilant moments on film). My picks?

Easy Rider - Jack, Peter and Dennis driving through the great Southwest to the tune of The Band's "The Weight".

On the other end of the spectrum, the bit from Reservoir Dogs featuring "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Steeler's Wheel is quite memorable.

It's not a film but a tv miniseries, the use of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear The Reaper" in The Stand.

My first one, in the extended edition of Close Encounter of the Third Kind as he enters the ship a new theme is heard. Part way through it, it becomes recognizable as "When you wish upon a Star." It gave me goosebumps the first time I saw this version for some reason.

Tarantino is great at incorporating music into scenes and letting the energy of it drive his films. I remember seeing Pulp Fiction for the first time, not knowing much about it and not having seen Reservoir Dogs. (Hey, I had been out of the country.) After the opening diner scene, Dick Dale's "Misirlou" came blasting out of the so]und system over the opening credits. I looked at my friend and said, "This movie is going to be awesome."

Sat in the back of Crockett's car, cruising Miami late in the evening with Phil Collin's In The Air Tonight blasting away, was pretty memorable.

The closing number of The Life Of Brian always makes me want to get up and stamp my feet.

The saxophone solo from Betty Blue is great in a melancholic way. The piano pieces, even more so.

This is what I thought of.
I'm not good at the advice. Can I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

The Guitar Solo in Back to the future by Michael J. Fox.

The Matrix II sequence: Burly Brawl with Neo vs. the tons of Agent Smiths

The Warriors- the End Sequence on the Beach with them walking into the sunset, the singing "warriors... come out and play-yay... " by the villian, and the usage of the DJ Narrator.

I was going to start a thread on this topic but I did a search and hey, I already did one.

I don't know if any of you have seen Truly, Madly, Deeply but it's a sweet and affecting film. After the main character's dead lover has returned to her in ghost film (that's not a spoiler), there's a scene where they sing "Without Love" that is so joyful it gives me goosebumps.

Much sadder is the scene when a patient in the titular mental institution sings "Going Home" in The Snake Pit. She's probably there for life.

Actually, now that I think about it, part of what makes the whole of the movie A Clockwork Orange work so well is the way the music is chosen to emphasize the action on the screen, ranging from a brutal beating to sex, in each case the music fits the actions of the characters and transforms it into a stylized event, almost a dance - simultaneously distancing the audience from the action, and increasing the emotional response to those same actions.

It's not exactly during the film, but Nina Persson singing "The Bluest Eyes In Texas" over the closing credits of Boys Don't Cry completely devastates me.

For starters let's go ahead and get the opening crawl from the Star Wars movies out of the way. Perhaps the most recognizable and iconic music in film moment ever. Also the Imperial March from Empire Strikes Back is pretty memorable.

The opening scene from Trainspotting, using Lust For Life by Iggy Pop.

Mirror In The Bathroom (by The English Beat) fight scene from Grosse Point Blank

Ewan MacGregor Singing T.V. Eye (originally by The Stooges) in Velvet Goldmine (WARNING NSFW: Ewan wang)

Yes! So iconic that even now, 30+ years later, it's weird to see a movie, hear the 20th Century Fox fanfare and not have it lead into Star Wars.

Heck yeah, Trainspotting. There is also the OD scene set to "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed and the last scene's use of Underworld's "Born Slippery."

And Grosse Point Blank has a fucking fantastic soundtrack.
