Default Help me get through "Angels and Demons"

I'll be seeing Angels and Demons today. Why would I do such a thing? Because it'll make my girlfriend happy.

Problem: Just reading a synopsis of the movie caused my eyes to roll so far back in my head that I saw my own brain. (I think it was in pain; it was all scrunched up.)

So, should I just mentally regress to the age of six and enjoy the pretty moving pictures, or should I think about something else the whole time?

    - Go hungry and get a huuuuuuuuuge bucket of popcorn.
    - If she likes to sit in the back, download a new game for your cell phone for $4.95 and knock yourself out for two hours.
    - Bring a flask and drink yourself silly. This did wonders for me in that Uwe Boll-directed Dungeon Siege movie.

That takes me back. I remember watching Pink Floyd's The Wall with siblings while drinking grape juice and vodka.

I'm a polite theatre patron, so I can't make noise or anything. (Do people simply not realize how annoying the blue lights of their cellphones are? Can't they live for two fucking hours without texting?) It'll be okay, though. I got through The Day After Tomorrow; I'll get through this.

I'd second the going hungry and eating popcorn idea.

    Drinking, too, could help.

When I sat through Twilight, the only thing that let me maintain my sanity was thinking the whole time about how I'd describe it to friends and laugh over it. So maybe if you're composing a hilariously snarky review of it for Domebo in your head while watching, it won't seem so bad?
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

Well, I'm supposed to be writing a tv script. I'll think about that.

Though, really, I'm being too snarky already. I mean, some of my favorite movies make no sense at all.

My sister read a review of it today that said "watching “Angels & Demons” was like being waterboarded by exposition." I remember that the movie version of DaVinci was painful in this regard. The books were bad, but translating them into a movie....OMG you want to put a bullet in your head.

Since you're going to please your girl-friend (awwww!), why not think about her while you watch the mindless rubbish?

Sorry, I should say that I got that from Colin Hoult...

How's that coming? Did you find some PDF conversion software yet?

You know, I've never actually achieved that? We went to a movie once and were literally the only people in the theatre. (It was The Emperor's New Groove, which actually was pretty good.) We could have fornicated badger-style right there. But, she was still in a wheelchair while her shattered leg healed.

Thanks; So far I've got the premise, characters and one scene. The .pdf conversion will be no problem.

Turns out that Huck Finn was right, and it's hard to write something of any length and complexity. I'll be working on that instead of going to an SCA event this weekend, because the deadline is coming up. I want to have the first draft done a week from now, so I can get a final draft submitted on June 1. (The submission period is June 1 to June 15 -- or until they get 1,500 entries, whichever comes first.)

I've found that I can sit through all sorts of tripe if I concentrate on one particular aspect of the movie and shut out everything else. Pick set design or music or costuming...something like that, and fixate. Look real hard for small continuity errors, or play "Spot the Extra."

Looking for small continuity errors in a movie as fundamentally retarded as A&D is like looking for pimples on a burn victim.

I liked the book for the most part. Let us know how it is. Hopefully not as disappointing as the DaVinci Code was.

Books are always 100 times better but one can hope. Personally I like all the scandal surrounding it with the Vatican and all. Ron Howard is an idiot for trying to stir up trouble ieublicity, and Tom Hanks went up a notch in my opinion for trying to defuse the nonsense.
    Boldly going nowhere.

Actually, it wasn't that bad an experience. Certainly preferable to trying to read the book, given Brown's clumsy prose.

Ludicrous, of course -- scientifically, historically, and logically. But that's what I expected. Since there was a puzzle involved, at least it was diverting, and it was a nice visual tour of Rome (including one of my favorite buildings, the Pantheon).

The actors were all good, and technically it was a very slick production. And, I chose to take away an anti-religion message, so that's good.

Meant to add -- I wonder if the Swiss Guard armory really looks like that. I expected the halberds and rapiers, but I also saw a godentag. Nice contrast with the modern automatic weapons on the wall.
