I had much the same thought: Fix her eyebrows and restyle her hair. She's got a great personality and a bit more style would let that come through better.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

I thought the same thing you did, WhyNot, that her vocal "training" involved not much more than singing along to recorded music.
The thing that sets her apart for me is her ability to make you 'feel' the song. She seems to have the ability to make you feel that she is singing from the heart and actually experiencing the emotions she's conveying through the song. That was Frank Sinatra's stock in trade and not very many singers truly have it. To me it is this unique quality that sets her apart and it is likely why her singing has been resonating so strongly with so many people even though she may not be perfect in a technical sense or that her singing may reflect the songs she learned from. Frankly, I get more emotion from her rendition of Cry Me A River than I do from Julie London's version, and I've loved Julie London's version for decades.
Oh, don't get me wrong...I think she's amazing...I love her! God knows, I've sung along to Les Miz a million times, and you don't want to get within 100 yards of my voice. A little serious voice training, and I think she could be a truly great vocal artist.

No worries. I just meant my comments as a follow up to yours and not as a criticism at all.

    Thank you for that!

This is going to sound really strange, and I couldn't put my finger on it until I heard this song, but her voice reminds me of the immortal and wonderful Patsy Cline.
Not strange to me at all. As I was listening to this performance (for the fourth or fifth time in a row), I thought I'd love to hear her cover "Crazy" by Patsy Cline.

I meant to mention this too, Lib. I agree and would love to hear her cover some of Patsy Cline's songs. "Crazy" would be a good beginning.

Oh my God. Oh, that would be just amazing. Yes! "Crazy!" And you know what? There's just something about her that I find beautiful. Eyebrows and all. I just love her. I know this sounds weird, but she is what God is all about, in my opinion.

She's been quoted as saying that she doesn't want a makeover; she wants to stay just as she is.

Brava for her, for her incredible talent and for her marvelous self-assurance and groundedness.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Heard on the "entertainment news" on my local radio station is a report that someone is offering Susan $1 million to do a porno film.

    That's a "to cry". Definitely.

Considering how she held her own against Simon, I'd rather like to hear her response to the porn offer.

If you see a panther crouch, prepare to say "ouch!".
Better yet, if called by a panther, don't anther.
