Default Does WE use different edits of the Golden Girls?

Is it just me or does WE show different edits of Golden Girls than Lifetime did? I've started to notice stuff like scenes being a bit longer and sometimes an entirely new scene. I only have season 1 on DVD, but the effect is similiar. Has anyone else noticed this? I know the syndicated versions are edited to make room for more commercials, but WE seems to be doing the opposite.

I have no idea, but it's possible that they could be using the original episodes, or perhaps some other "cut" of the show.

If I'm not mistaken, there were more than 2 different versions of M*A*S*H shown on TV: the "original" episodes, the "syndicated" episodes (edited only for time), and the "syndicated and edited" episodes (edited for time and language, a lot of stations ran these during the day).

I haven't noticed, but I haven't watched too many episodes since they switched over to WE. I guess I'll rectify that tomorrow. As much as I hate to admit it, if anybody would notice that sort of thing, it's me. I think I've seen ever episode about 15 times.

The Simpsons, I know, has done this.. Some episodes would have a few seconds more here and there, maybe a five or ten second clip that is taken out for the syndication as opposed to the first airing or DVD. I realized this when watching some episode on DVD I'd seen probably 30+ times on TV and knew nearly line for line (was it the Stonecutters episode? I can't recall offhand) and suddenly there was a new scene in there. I KNEW it wasn't something I'd missed, I'd seen the episode many times and THAT WAS NOT IN THERE BEFORE... (well.. after, really.. I never saw the first airing of it, apparently).

Many shows are edited for syndication. With stuff like the Golden Girls, the versions we've seen the most are the syndicated ones, when the first-run prime-time version is shown, it's usually longer.

A cable network aimed at women, short for Women's Entertainment, I expect. Basically Lifetime without quite as much rape & revenge.

I actually prefer the rape and revenge of Lifetime. Apparently, the head honchos at WE think all women want to watch are shows about brides--fat brides, stupid brides, bridezillas, rich brides, poor brides. They also have a series called "Little Miss Perfect" which is pretty disturbing. Unless you like beauty pageants with five year olds, then it's probably pretty great.

From what I've read they often cut syndicated episodes to fit more commercials in.

Golden Girls are cool, but I like Designing Women better.

    Did I just say that?
