Spicy food is delicious, as long as it's not stupidly hot. The spiciness should combine with the other flavours, not overpower them and cause physical distress. I made a smashing stirfry last night, and it had just the right amount of chili bite, balanced with salt, sugar, and garlic. I have some left over and am going to eat it very soon!

TNP gets strange, sudden cravings for food they don't normally eat.

I suppose that isn't like food at a Cuban-Chinese restaurant (you know, one half the menu Chinese, one half the menu Cuban food). So, no. That sounds kind of strange, actually -- sounds like fun, though.

TNP appreciates the art of rolling cigars, the more one disassembles them, even though one doesn't smoke cigars. Pretty cool.

Also false. I've smoked 'em before, but I don't much care for cigars or how they're made.

TNP is currently wishing there was some major thing they could change in their life?

No, I guess not. But at the present time within a few hundred miles or so.

TNP has stopped counting things like sexual partners, addresses, LSD trips, and whatever a long time ago, and just figures "eh, plenty, but whatever" is a good approximation.

Oh yeah, I guess. I helped my mother the other day set up her printer so she could use it over her wireless network, and when I was testing it, didn't realize that the reason I thought it sucked was that the printer was out of paper. There was some flashing light or whatever, like I'm supposed to know that.

speaking of lowlifes tnp has almost figured out something `important`about the way a man who desires conformity in daily decorous action and a society of attention-seeking special fetishists for technicians and clubs can coexist.

Not any goddammed ocean. Haven't seen the Atlantic in a while. Filthy shark-infested waters.

TNP thinks the mighty oceans of the world are the great equalizer, and one day they will prevail over the scooters- and golf-cart-obsessed minions of the world, in a triumph over aesthetic incorrectness.

If by "grin" you mean "emaciated rictus," then sure. Seriously, though, I see it, and even am guilty of it. More a dog hanging out a car window-type grin, can't help it. (Right-associative until the last, I guess).

I don't know what they are smiling about, exactly, but I think it might be a kind of reflexive action, the grinning. Me, I try to sneak more air through the mouth because I (i) want to starve my lungs of oxygen to get more out of it and (ii) want to look cool like breathing through the nose like it's no big deal. Probably looks like I'm sneering or something, but some of those athletic types are probably really liking the exercise and seem to think that smiling in public is acceptable behavior, as well as needing air, so they kind of combine all that into one gesture.

TNP is still somehow shocked at people just "jogging" on city streets. Thinks it is kind of freaky and bourgeois-individualist to expose the rest of us to one's private hygiene practices and fetishes.

No, I "love" eating spicy food and doing the dirty hunch. But it can pass the time, if you see a dirt trail uphill, to run up it. In general, though it's for squares and tightpants who want to dress up and show off their toilet, like little fairies at the ball.

TNP is having trouble adhering to a reasonable schedule of pushups every day, starting with the number day one. OR chooser's choice, ETA TNP has had more than one "gluten free beer" recently and is not that upset about it.

No, down to one bi-monthly -- and two others passed on by subscribers. Save a tree, or whatever. Just regular old magazines, not fancy and not academic journals, and not newspaper supplements like Parade or the NY Times Sunday Magazine or the Weekly Shopper or the Monde diplomatique or hippie trash like that.

TNP will name good magazines. Here. In this thread. In the next post. That TNP reads. Every month or two.

fine, I'll answer. I was going to give someone else a chance, but too slow, 'mo. No. And judging by the last time I was there, the EV is even more overrun by numbnut little fancy girl-men with "messenger" bags and tailored shirts.

TNP has been overjoyed recently, as I was, by seeing one (of several) witheringly negative omnibus articles/reviews new criterion, whatever, but these two cats were off the hook negative. only in new york!

Sure, I guess. ETA Holy Fucking Shit. I know one family member who is like a mental patient for the giggle soup. Seriously, I drink a lot -- it's like my hobby -- but this guy can't even split a bottle of whiskey with me without falling down. Seriously, don't do the crime if you can't do the time. At least I don't fall all over the place, I just sit in my chair and become belligerent, most of the time.

TNP thinks buying consumer goods like "group theory 101" or "jane fonda thighbusters" is ethically suspicious. And is not at all concerned as TNP is paying someone to clean his or her teeth in the next few hours. That's fine, because home dentistry is probably a bad idea.

Not "ethically suspicious," but probably financially unwise.
