Not that long, fortunately, but my car is in the shop now, as it happens. The check-engine light came on yesterday, and then the battery-saver indicator. Hope it's nothing serious.
TNP was on a sailboat this summer.

TNP was on a sailboat this summer.
Hmmm....no, I guess not. More than one motorboat, a cruise ship, but no sailboat.
TNP likes rye better than bourbon.
No. No preference. I'm more of a beer or wine guy anyway.
TNP had a glass of wine today.
Nope. Haven't had a "glass" (or whatever) of wine for probably two months. I do have some fairly nice wine glasses I broke out when Dr. Mr. Prissypants came to visit, though. I felt like a classy guy drinking Franzia out of something that isn't a coffee mug or a thermos.
TNP had kind of a fun, albeit-business-related, conversation this morning with a stranger.
Hmmm..no...had a reasonably amusing conversation with a colleague, but otherwise not so much fun.
TNP is going to a professional sporting event this weekend.
Don't think so, but I wouldn't mind seeing another baseball game well before the snow falls.
TNP will probably make a snowball when he or she next sees snow.
You know? Probably fuck yeah. We don't get much snow out on the coast, and when we do I'm usually too busy laughing at people who don't know how to walk in a few inches of snow. I think out of instinct I do usually make a little snowball and toss it, just for fun. ETA My name is 'snowball' because my fur is white and fluffy! that's hilarious to me still.
TNP walks like a penguin when there's snow on the ground.

If there's any risk of slipping and falling, yeah, I can do The Penguin as well as anyone.
TNP thinks penguins are adorable.
Never thought of them that way, but, sure. They're kind of funny birds. I guess they have pretty complicated social strata -- well, more complex than I can figure out prima fac.
TNP kind of enjoys observing different types of fauna or whatever,
"Snuflfles is my slave name. I am called 'Snowball' because my fur is white, and pretty."
TNP thinks the movie *Blazing Saddles* is hilarious,
Oh, definitely. Exuberantly un-P.C. but very, very funny.
TNP can quote all or part of the recruiting-villains scene from Blazing Saddles.
I like rape.
TNP laughed out loud watching a movie recently.
Yes, Sense and Sensibility. Some great droll Austenian humor.
TNP has seen and liked Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility.
You know, I think I did. I have no idea why I saw that, but I remember being amused. It doesn't help that I'm more a *Pride and Prejudice* guy, but it doesn't hurt either.
TNP woke up pretty damned early recently.
On Friday I had to be up at 6:30am. Does that count? Usually I'm up at 7 on weekdays; on weekends I prefer to sleep in, and have been known to sleep until 11.
TNP hasn't slept in until 11 in years.
True, can't even really imagine doing that anymore.
TNP has been told that he/she snores.
Yes, many times. I really don't believe a word of it.
TNP had an "issue" on the toilet on a recent morning.
No, fortunately.
TNP would like to visit Australia someday.
I would love to go to Australia somebody -- that's part of a fantasy about drinking insane amounts of beer in the middle of nowhere, getting in friendly bar-fights, and just in general getting into all kinds of trouble. Maybe that's New Zealand. I always get those confused.
TNP has had a hangover recently.
No, not in a loooooooong time.
TNP prefers wine to beer.
Not really. I went through a long time just drinking wine -- you know, because of the alcohol content. It kind of upsets my stomach -- good old 10% beer is a little smoother these days.
TNP has forgotten that is 8pm rather than 8am recently. Duh! TNP has used a Filtron coffee maker recently -- speaking of stomach sensitivity.

A few weeks back, yes. But I usually drink coffee only if someone else is brewing it (coffee shop, restaurant).
TNP drinks coffee just about every day.
Oh, so true. Only exceptions are when I'm deathly ill.
TNP has been thinking about making a career change.
Yep. No clues if I'll make it, but despite appearances, I sure do try hard. I think I drink more than the average person just to avoid burning out (psychological argot). Hell, count coffee right up there hooch.
TNP has been through multiple times in his or her life when he or she was on the verge of having little problems with alcohol.
No, fortunately. I've only been out-and-out drunk once in my life, and sometimes go many weeks without having a drink.
TNP has been to Gettysburg, Pa.
Maybe I've driven through nearby. Not sure. Maybe, for I know, I was getting a handy in the car and didn't notice the signs. ETA no, just looked at a map. At best I've taken the 70 a few times and would have had to take the 15 for a number of miles roughly NNE. Some of those PA "pikes" are pretty dodgy to drive on just for kicks. Hey, who *doesn't* spend many weeks without "having" a drink (or twenty)!
TNP thinks war memorials/battlefields are kind of saddening. Or else are probably haunted.
Last edited by Jizzelbin; 26 Sep 2015 at 11:07 AM.
Definitely saddening, sometimes, but never haunted IME.
TNP has been following the Pope's visit to the U.S. in the news.
Not really, just when somebody else mentions something.
TNP still watches network news.
No. I don't watch any news. In fact, since both the WSJ and the NYT eta raised their cover prices, I don't even read my favorite print news sources anymore.
TNP inspects print news via headlines on the internet, as primary source of information. (Coupled with word-of-mouth RL scuttlebutt).

Yes. CNN.com is often just about as far as my search for news goes somedays.
TNP likes apple cider in the fall.
True, but then I like Apple cider all year round.
TNP saw the Blood Moon the other night.
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.
Nah, was stuck inside, I guess.
TNP always seems to be short of time.
I ain't got TIME (to do any/everything)!
TNP is good at making time, just not the having of it.
True, I guess. I can usually prioritize pretty well and get done what I really need to.
TNP has a PDA.
False, never had one.
TNP keeps a diary
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.
Nah, nothing I do is worth recording.
TNP likes reading Pepys' diary.
I've read excerpts, but never the whole thing.
As a child, TNP secretly read a sibling's diary.
AFAIK my sister didn't keep a diary. I would absolutely have read it. Not sure why, but sounds like something I would have done. ETA I wouldn't have done it secretly, though -- I would have tried to embarrass her and then made fun of her "My Little Pony" collection. For example, I almost got expelled in middle-school for bundling some code that removed protections from the girls' emails on the mainframe VAX into a mass e-mail -- just because I wanted to get in their pants. Hey don't cry for me, I eventually got there! I just stopped the nerd shit, is all.
TNP has been fighting off an annoying cold recently.
Last edited by Jizzelbin; 03 Oct 2015 at 02:38 PM.
True. Started in my throat while I was out of town, and spread to my head - I took a sick day on Tuesday, slept most of the day, and felt much better after that.
TNP has taken a sick day in the past month.
False, thank God. Used up way too many with the detached retina.
TNP has more than 3 pens on his/her desk.
Oh, definitely. I have a Yoyodyne Proposulsion Systems ("Bringing you the future tomorrow!") mug full of pens.
TNP recognizes, without any Googling, the reference to Yoyodyne.
No, I did not. Wiki-ing now, though, I probably could have, through hypnosis. Thomas Pynchon is a boring hack
TNP cured a cold recently by 12 hours of sleep, hydration, and canned beans. And mucinex, sudafed, loratidine, and xanax, for muscle-relaxing properties.
False. A day's rest, more sleep than usual, and plenty of Vitamin C.
(Pynchon, originally, but more recently and much more entertainingly this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ad..._8th_Dimension)
TNP has seen that movie.
Yeah, that had that really cute woman in it. Don't remember it much though, except that it was fun.
TNP has been today (or recently) accosted (in a friendly manner) by a manic kid who had some good advice. In my case, to his asking to see my computer to write his email, me pulling out a pencil and notebook, "Notebook! Cool" Me: "Yeah, computers are kind of shitty" He: "Computers are for idiots." Me: "Computers are for nerds." He: "computers are for people who are afraid of life." Me: "That's pretty smart, I think you're right.")
Nah, can't say that's happened.
TNP has been recently accosted (in a non-friendly manner) by a maniac. (In my case, some guy shouting in something that did not sound at all English, or human, except when he would say "That's who I am!" He was actually pursuing and street blocking me, and I was not at all unhappy when the cop at the parking lot entrance took control of the situation.)
No, fortunately.
TNP has bought food for homeless people.
No. Not in a long, long time. I'm frequently accosted by people, but it is either neutral or jovial. Less than a minute ago, for example, I was sitting in front of the library enjoying my (illegal to smoke) tobacco pipe and took a pull off a bottle of whiskey. A minute prior this guy was loading an impressive-looking toolbox into his van parked ENE of me, and less than a minute ago, he said, "You've got the right idea" me: "Long as the cops don't see it!" Mutual (literal) thumbs-up. That, to me, is being accosted. And to me, that's just great -- that's how lifelong friendships are made. OK, maybe not, but it amuses me. That's what you do.
TNP doesn't really understand how people *don't* strike up little conversations with random people.
less than 60 seconds a guy with "Poet" tatooed on his knuckles said "Hey, I know you!" me:"Hey, I'm a poet too!" he:"i'll read you my shit!" me:"next time!" OH shit he came back with a friend...more later
No, I understand why they don't - some people are just more reserved and/or have a more well-engrained sense of "Don't talk to strangers." But I'm pretty friendly myself.
TNP wants Jizz to post some of his poetry here.
Eat my ass. False. the update ends up with me and this buddy of his having smoked a pinner J [I did not partake] and the just chillaxing and all of a sudden he took a header or a backer onto the pavement. Paramedics came, and I said what I knew, which wasn't much. That pussy just took some pavement to the curb and didn't wake up. Fucking downer, man. And we cowed up our last cash to get another pint of whiskey and I think it was in his backpack. That fucking jew. Fuck.
TNP [s]doesn't like being told what to do by nobody.[/s] is addicted to the game 2048 on his or her phone. Fuck, powers of 2 aren't that fucking hard -- I want a perfect score!

Yes, and no, respectively.
TNP would just as soon see no anti-Semitic comments here on Mello.
