Default Some useful information for posting images

Hey all, it has been asked that I sticky some info about posting images.

To put an image in a post:
    1) Upload your image onto the web somewhere. I like photobucket, but that's me. There are lots of hosting sites out there, pick your favorite and run with it.
    2) Enclose the URL your image is at (e.g. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee10 ... goomba.jpg) in [IMG] tags, like this: [IMG ]http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee106/NAF1138/goomba.jpg[ /IMG] but without the spaces inside the tags.

    You get:

Currently the max size for photos is set to 640X480. This is a fairly large standard size, but not gigantic. You may need to edit some stuff down to make it fit.

PM me and let me know if there is other stuff we need to add to this sticky and I will update it as necessary.

To make a small thumbnail a link to the larger image:

    {url=http://your_image_file_fullsize.jpg}{img}http://your_image_file_thumbnail.jpg{/img}{/url}

Replacing the curly brackets with straight ones, of course...

    It looks like this:

ETA: Is there any way to get the max image size up to 640x480? That's a standard formatting size for most hosting sites and photo editors and would cut down on having to make very specifically sized custom image files just for use here.

Yes there is a way, and it is now taken care of. I'll edit the first post to reflect the update.

Ummm, you have to replace BOTH the pic URLs in my example! Your first URL is my pic, you only changed the one inside the {IMG} tags to your picture...

    Here it is, fixed:

Posting from Picasa just got easier!

They have a checkbox now that says "Image only (no link)". You can use that w/img tags and it works!

    For example:

    Voila!

I'm apparently too incompetent to sort this out. This is a test post.

    You don't need the HTML.
I don't think so, therefore I'm probably not.

The easiest thing is to just copy the link to the image and use the Insert Image tool on the tool bar.

When I tried that before, I just got the little question mark icon. That's why I tried the long version that flickr gives you for linking to other websites. I'm on a different computer at the moment (mine died, sniff) so this test may not be valid, but here goes - let's see if it works now ....

    Nope, it doesn't.

I am on a Mac using Safari (same deal as on my now-broken computer). I wonder if that has something to do with it? I'll try from Firefox in a bit.

Oh, and thanks for the help!

    It works!

Okay, even an idiot like myself will be able to figure this out now. I shall go forth and post a picture somewhere.
