Ooh! featherlou--somehow I think I never saw the True You until now. I was gonna post one like that but it freaked me out...

Re the looking to the side--I did that too, until I thought about it and realized that I needed to look at the little square lens in my MacBook top. I would be hopeless on TV-Cindy Brady's got nothing on me.

JetX--you DO look like a cyborg in that pic!

lagamorph--nice pic, but you're not laughing. Cognitive dissonance or mixed message? :dub:

Turned out it wasn't as funny as I thought.

I was just in a serious mood when I took the picture, but I think it is a good portrait in the sense that it very accurately reflects the emotion I was feeling at that instant.

I'll try to take a more lighthearted one sometime.

Thank you! I was at a party when this was taken, so I was about to blame that on the booze, but then I remembered that I was pregnant at the time, so I wasn't drinking. Maybe I just have that kind of a face.

Aw, you guys are sweet! My trick is to smear the camera lens with vaseline. I'm 40 in that pic, Jali, and feeling every bit of it at about 4 or 5 months prego!

I took this picture of myself a couple days ago, because I thought I looked cute in a no makeup, hair needs to be brushed, washed out by the afternoon sun, Harvey Dent kind of way.

And, while I'm at it, my favorite self-portrait, because I think it shows my personality pretty well.

The sun. I hate it. The feeling appears to be mutual.

It's been a few weeks since I took any pictures of myself, aside from lurking in the background of family events, but this is my most recent self-portrait:

I'd been telling a friend I was going to get pictures done in my corset and vinyl pants to prove I am the most fabulous (long story), but haven't gotten around to it, as I need somebody to lace me up.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

Ha! You have a lot in common with the kindergarteners I know, then. They're all pretty sure I'm in my 30s or 40s. Then I tell them I'm 24 and they get this look on their face like, "But you're so old. Are you sure?"

Ok, here's me... I took this with the window opened, using the bathroom mirror to reflect the viewscreen so I could preview. (Yep, those are silver hairs. Won't pluck 'em.) I am not usually successful at faking a smile, so I just go for a neutral expression. ETA: Yeah, I got a few freckles too.

My eye, it's hazel. I do pluck my eyebrows from time to time. (The dirt speck blew in on me, and I thought I'd gotten it wiped away.)

This one was taken by the Mr., but I like it. I'm somewhat disgruntled, because he's ignoring my advice to pull the camera back a fraction and zoom in to get it to focus. He thought because he'd read the camera manuel cover to cover that meant he could use the camera better than I could. So, I tried to school my expression while my camera kept making "I'm not focused" noises. It was windy, and my hair was trying to be frizzy that day. (I'm wearing turquoise blue and purple, for the record.)

I like the semi-glower here. I'll call this my second favorite MsPurl pic, after the smirking one in front of the shower curtain that you posted at The Old Place a while back.

I know. I always want to comment on her pics too because I think that Ms. Purl is insanely beautiful but I don't want people to think that I'm the Ms. Purl Nonny either.

Um, if you guys don't want to be taken for the Ms. Purl nonny, then just don't talk about how you'd like to get up in my sweet little Wisconsin puss and you should be fine. Seriously, nonnies, you weird me out sometimes -- perhaps even all the time.

But! Thank you both very much for the compliments. It's kind of you to say so.

I know artifex probably won't put this picture here, so I'll do it for her. This is a shot I snapped of her at the Riverwalk in San Antonio. I was actually getting pictures of the surrounding buildings when all of a sudden she was in my field of view and, if I do say so myself, looking rather splendid.
