My daughter and I in late 2007 (about 40lbs ago for me and sixteen hairdos ago for her )

Drunken cell phone self-portrait on my 37th birthday. It looks like I felt (sleepy, blurry, and oddly lit), and amuses me.

Me five minutes ago. I don't know why it's so fuzzy, but that's probably best for everyone.

Huh... ETA that my head is not permanently stuck in that position, contrary to the evidence presented.

Here is kaleidoscope me I took yesterday during a conversation on the DoMeBo IRC channel:

ETA: Diana, that blurry picture reminds me of this (really weird) .

Oh, and here's the original picture, made with a not-very-good webcam just for a test:

Um.. speaking of really weird, somewhere my mom has a picture of me when I was little, hair in pigtails, with two of our Great Danes, one of which was fawn, and one brindle (although they both had cropped ears). I have to see if she can dig that up!

An Gadai, thanks, you're too kind!

This is a self portrait, taken on a timer. It took a few goes, but every time I was surprised by the flash

The steps can pass, especially if Rose isn't with them for comparison, but several times people have looked at the kids, at me, back at the kids again, and asked if I am the father for all of them. If I was a bit quicker witted, I'd have a response ready for these times (i.e. "Supposedly" with a dirty look at the wife).

I have some pictures of myself from 1977 and I look just like my little girl (even the hair, I had typical 70s kid long hair until I was 5). I'll have to post them tonight. I showed the pictures to her and the other kids and asked who they thought it was, every one of them answered "Rosie". I feel bad for how she'll look when she's older, but on the other hand having an ugly daughter might save me a lot of stress.

My first time alone with it produced this - I'll never get a better one:

Use the "All Sizes" function in Flickr and use the "Small" size for best effect:

Right-click on the image and copy the image location, then put that address inside IMG tags. If you like, you can then wrap all of that with URL tags linking to a larger size.

    Pretty mundane, actually:
Together with a few friends I am currently in the process of programming/thesis-writing/procrastinating. We spend most of our weekdays at our university hoping to get some work done while drinking inordinate amounts of coffee. Last week a friend of mine coerced me and another friend into going to the deserted campus early saturday morning because she was unhappy with her progress. At the time that other friend and I already had plans for friday night. We watched The Great Silence and went to see a one-man play about Klaus Kinski. After the play his roommates wanted to watch the movie Brazil and we joined in. It was an altogether nice evening but a bit long. Bound by my promise I dragged myself to our department on time after not quite four hours of sleep. Around noon both of my friends called that they had overslept and eventually both canceled. The friend pointed out that being the only one there I was also the first one of our group there -- a sufficiently rare event that I should document it.

Pick the least interesting thing you can think of, and it'll be close. After living 44 years without a crippling injury, on my first trip abroad, I jumped out of a car onto a wet metal grate and went down on my right knee, rupturing the quadriceps.

All the depravity was virtually without consequence (physically).

Yes; Caernarfon, in Wales. At both there and Conwy, I climbed the tallest tower with one good leg and a crutch. I've been studying medieval history for decades, but found that no matter what books you read, there's nothing like getting your hands on a real piece of history.

It's a bit small, but it's a quick picture I took last night. I've had a full beard for about 3 months because I was in a play and last night we finished the run and struck the set. A friend of mine shaved off the beard and left the funky 'stache.

I don't think so, therefore I'm probably not.

You do look surprised and it cracked me up that it kept flashing, and you kept being surprised. You look to be a nice size in the photo. How much have you lost?
Well, probably another 5-ish kg. This is me in Ireland two weeks ago - my wife took it, though, so not really a self-portrait, but I like it.

The flashy thing was because the camera had red-eye reduction turned on, so it flash-flash-flash-FLASHED.
Plus my sense of timing is terrible: wait, wait, wait, damn I didn't hit the shutter, oh well, I'll try again, flash-flash-flash-FLASHED, oh SHIT.
