    ETA: Is it just me or did film handle a wider range of contrast better than digital sensors? The lock pic shows a wide range and my camera seems to struggle with those issues as well. I wonder: if you manipulate that image with photoshop or whatever, adjusting exposure for the dark, is it sharper than it appears in the image posted?

    I checked on your camera OP, and it has no depth of field preview feature. Too bad; it could have been a helpful feature. My Oly has it, so I can stop down the lens before I take the pic and get an approximation of what will be in focus. I guess they figure since we aren't burning any film
