I love the lilies. In my next yard I plan to have a bed full of lilies. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn how tough the Asiatic lilies are - full sun, little water, Zone 3, and they just love it.

We just mowed down flowers today...... No pictures.... It was sad....

It is fully made of awesome, that's true.
Here are some shots from my recent trip to Saskatchewan - I visited a greenhouse, and got some very nice shots.
These are about the most photogenic flowers I've ever seen -
I love the attitude of these flowers for some reason -
I'm proud of this one - I was taking a picture of some trees, and a rabbit ran by. I got him in mid-stride:
This one turned out much better than I dared to hope - there was a huge ring around the sun on Saturday, and I got a shot of the sun behind a big pine with the ring around all of it -
I like this a lot. The one in the center of the foreground especially. It's like it's a paper cutout of the ideal flower. Very nice.Originally posted by featherlou

Ooh, so many lovely flowers. And a cute little bug.
Sorry for the aside, but I can't seem to get this to work. I first posted an image that was some 10% too large (it told me 480 pixels high was max). I resized it and then received the message that it was impossible to determine the size of the image. Looking at the page source on other posts I don't see any special html saying height/width.. A bit of help, please?
What photo-hosting site are you trying to link from?
my blogspot.com blog (the raw image within it, of course) which starts out with http://4.bp.blogspot.com/
I even resized it then reposted it to the blog so that it would conform to the height limit (the difference wasn't noticeable on the blog so I didn't mind).
Oh, you would say that, wouldn't you? I've never posted a pic from there!
I hate it when people do this, but since I can't help with that particular application--have you considered creating a [Picasa/Fllckr/Photobucket, etc] account and linking from there? Sorry!
Picasa won't work either. :::: Just saw in the other thread that Picasa has made hot linking work... Cool !!! -- so disregard what I said about Picasa...
You need a site that will hot link to just the jpg. fickr, image shack, photobucket are a few.
Others that the picture is part of a page will not render on here.
For example,on your blog page. If you just do the URL to the single picture page, it will not render here.
IMO, create a DOMEBO folder on your computer and copy all the pictures you might want to post in there so they are all in one place. Then take say, Flickr, get an account and download they uploader. resize all the pictures to 480 on the long side and then batch upload, over night if on dial-up. You can also batch resize then for thumbnails and upload that if you like to link with a thumb nail.
I use Irfanview for a photo program just because it is the easiest in key strokes to do all I want or need. Price is right, free.
YMMV

thanks for the advice on the image hosting.. I just assumed the link on my blog would suffice.

All lovely. I think I'll try to get a shot of my bleeding heart today - I don't have much more blooming than that. Oh yeah, my tulips and pulsatilla are still blooming - about a month late.
Okay, here's my blooming bleeding heart (Dicentra spectabilis) -
I took this picture at a friend's house tonight, around dusk. I have to get back there when there's better light.

I found some purty columbines this weekend:

I have columbines very much like that, Aleq. My sister has some that are scarlet and cream - I got some seeds from her last year, so I hope this year I too have scarlet and cream ones - they are startlingly gorgeous! Columbines are amongst my favourite flowers - give 'em all the sun they can take, never water them, and watch them go!
They grow native up here in a rainbow of colors and I just love them--especially the funny pokies in the back!

Columbines are native here, too, which explains why they're so hardy, I guess.
They certainly look as though they'd be fragile and picky, but not so much!

Cool pictures, Jeff.
I remain unconvinced that the Olympus lenses are better because they were designed for digital photography. For this photo, I used a Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f/2.8~4 macro lens (and MD mount to Olympus adapter). I bought the lens for $50 on eBay, it arrived Friday and I took this yesterday.
Maybe the high end Olympus lenses are startlingly good, but then, so are their prices.
