I can see now why QED fell prey to his harrassment, and I regret having defended Leander even in the abstract. Had I known then what I know now, I would have supported the Captain's remarks. My concern was about members of the community. I couldn't care less about trolls.

He's not one of us, and he knows it. But he's so socially damaged that hostility is the only tool he has. And hostility is the only thing he contributes to the board. Sadly, allowing him to be here and interact with us is tantamount to encouraging him to troll and push buttons.

Even before he interacted with me, it was hard to understand why the powers were indulging him, given what they said about him. Now that I see it with my own eyes, I have to wonder whether something else is afoot. Does the Captain owe him money or favors of some kind? If it were my board, I wouldn't want it fouled by trash like Leander.

A couple of people have pleaded to keep him around so we can pick on him, or because it's good to have a diversity of people. But I'd prefer a diversity of viewpoints rather than a diversity of community damage. Why keep someone around whose only concern with respect to the community is destabilizing and destroying it?

This is supposed to be the free speech board. The board borne in a revolution. The anti-Zotti board. The "in my day, we called each other cunts and we liked it!" board. That being the case, I think we need to stick to our ideals even if it means dealing with a few fucksticks now and then.
