Default Eating fiberglass: what are the consequences?

I found out that yesterday, the autistic son of one of my friends ate some fiberglass insulation, complete with the foil. What's the likely outcome of ingesting this poor substitute for cotton candy?

Eating one small portion should have no effect at all. If it makes your friend feel better, he/she should search Youtube for the kind of stuff people eat on dares.

Most fiberglass fibers are small enough that they may cause some irritation but shouldn't damage anything internally. But it could possibly scratch or tear or perforate some of the internal workings. I don't think it's likely, but it's possible.

(I work in fiberglass. I would highly recommend not eating our product.)
