Take over command of Russia at this point? Who do I have to kill?

Subject to the OK of the GM and the other players, I'm in. If you'd rather recruit someone who hasn't recently pontificated at length about how bright things are looking for Russia, no hard feelings. If you don't want to lose my brilliant commentary, even fewer hard feelings!

Hello, my six new best friends. Or something.

I already got the first message from a player and found out that we're closing in on the deadline. If I do take over (which is still subject to the OK of the other seven people involved), can we get an extension so I can get acquainted, or maybe let pedescribe handle the next move and then give me the helm?

In order to give our gracious sub a little time to situate himself, I'm going to extend our deadline 24 hours. That's really not enough time for him to make all the arrangements he needs, but it should be enough for everyone to at least send and receive a message with him. As my Wednesday nights are busy, we'll make it a 27 hour extension. The new deadline is Thursday, at 00:00 EDT. (That's the midnight immediately following Wednesday).

Welcome, to the ranks of the crowned heads of Europe, Tsar Harlequin, and good luck!

I hate to do this almost as much as I'd hate to do it if I were kicking somebodies ass, but I need to drop out as well. I've lost access to DoMeBo from behind the firewall at my office, and my evening free time is going to be practically nonexistent for the next couple weeks.

    Sorry guys...

I'm graciously willing to take over Germany. If Harlequin wants to continue being an independent commentator, I can do Russia as well. If fact I hate to see all the time wasted from our other players that could be done doing other things. Thus, I suggest for the benefit of everyone except me, I take over all nations. You are welcome.

Sorry, guys. Got caught up in a nasty cycle of 12-on, 8 off at work for a couple of days. I'm missing moves from two players (not KidV), so I'm going to just extend the Spring until I get them, because I'm worried I might have deleted the PMs (or just can't find them in my inbox).

Again, my apologies. We'll start up again when I get the moves, or the weekend's over, whichever comes first. I'm also looking for a sub for KidV (Germany), for any silent spectators.

Color me a little surprised France has stuck by Germany. It's keeping Germany alive, and finally destroys that English fleet which was so troublesome last year. That being said, Russia's encirclement means that it's unlikely that Germany will be able to keep all of its home centers without organizing a detente with the Russian monster.

England, having lost her Continental fleet, is in an awkward position. There's nothing productive to do this Fall other than telegraph next year's moves and continue to ward off France's Channel fleet.

France, on the other hand, has a lot of productive manuevering to do in the fall. There are many options for the two units in the North. He could move into the Irish Sea to try to split the English defenses, float the army to Wales to make another attempt to seize England from the ground, or just continue to blockade England. That, or he could make a serious effort to gobble up his ally in his hour of need. In the south, he's much better positioned than Italy, although that army in Marseilles can be very tricky to deal with, even alone.

Italy can't be feeling that great, though. He can't support the aforementioned army, and France in the Gulf of Lyon could be very dangerous. That army in North Africa isn't going anywhere, fast. He's not in any danger of losing anything, but being stymied can be the same as being swallowed in this game.

Austria loses out in the east while supporting his ally. He's bound to lose a center in the fall to the roving Turk. The move to the Adriatic is aggressive to Italy: a move to Albania is just as quick anywhere in the east, and only helps out in attacking the Italian peninsula. We could definitely see Austria try to pick that lost build back up in the west.

Turkey takes a stab to the west, and it pays off. He's likely to be able to keep the build he took, although he could lose Bulgaria and a lot of his defensive capabilities stranding armies in the Balkans. There's a limit to how well he can do on his own against Austria and Russia. In the end, he's going to have to utilize some.... Diplomacy. (Sorry, couldn't help it)

Russia's the only Power in a clearcut positive position. He finally seizes Denmark in the North, has all sorts of fingers looking to plunge into the pie of Germany, and has retaken Rumania: the only thing a North-oriented Russia needs in the South. It doesn't seem the succession of Tsars has caused a hiccough in Russian plans.

Well, it's not really a word. If you look closely you will see it is a series of words, broken up by where the capital letters are.

    See, now it makes sense!

I completely fail to understand what the hell is going on in the game.

I'll need a choice from Turkey, Italy will retreat to Piedmont unless gary tells me he wants to destroy the army in MAR.

Looks great. One query: How come Turkey's moves to CON bounced? Is it because one of them should have been supporting the other rather than both simply moving there?

On the map, Austria's moves don't seem to have been recorded correctly.

    A TYR-VEN: OK
    F ADR-TRI: OK
    A TRI-SER: OK
    F AEG-BUL: Bounced
    A GRE S F AEG-BUL: OK

Yet on the map there's a fleet in the Adriatic, Trieste is empty, and the army from Greece moved into Bulgaria.

Also, why the "cannot dislodge own unit" note on England's move? You can dislodge your own units, but that was a bounce anyway so it wouldn't have been dislodged.

First off, you can NOT dislodge your own units. Not directly, anyway. The best you could do is dislodge your own unit by supporting another nation’s move into a territory your unit occupies.
Secondly, the German Fleet in Holland supported the move “Yor-Nth.” This support fails because it would result in England’s Fleet dislodging another English Fleet.
I do not bite my thumb at you, but I bite my thumb.

Wow. Yeah. I really did screw the pooch there.

It also limits Turkey's possibilities to only one tactically reasonable retreat (Budapest).

I have recently had my power cut out by a big storm that knocked a tree down over the power lines connected to my house, so I haven't had an internet connection (I'm posting from the one at school right now). Sorry for being late with my moves and for not responding to the people who have sent me PMs. I'll try to get them in by tomorrow.
