Well it was one of those 'if it can go wrong it not only went wrong but burned down the house and kicked a puppy for good measure' weeks.
A fats trawl of the rest of IS posts - really cant see anything scummy, so if we don't get the alpha this evening I'll probably vote for Total Ulla tomorrow

    Vote Paulwhoisaghost

For this evening investigation - well I guess I could peek at Total Ulla overnight , is that wrong?

I agree.... and I had planned on reviewing all of Hostile's posts and analyzing why he made them.... and analyzing IS's posts and showing how they prove he is scum... but I am having some serious issues on the home front. So I apologize for my lack of effort.

Yeah, for what it's worth, if Paul is not the Alpha, then I'd be slightly (but certainly not definitively) inclined toward killing Stickler toMorrow. Since I may well die toNight if we got things wrong toDay, it's worth getting that on the record.

And so it came to pass that on this Day a decision had to be made.

PrecambrianMollusc had looked into the hearts of those remaining and could not tell the difference. With a shrug he turmed to storyteller who stood to one side looking at the remaining vanilla townspeople.

He had watched them over the past few days and narrowly escaped the same fate as his brethren and as such, he was going to make sure every last second he had counted.

He smiled a knowing smiled and started to speak. The words flowed like a breath of fresh air clearing the fog away.

The town listened as he finished four of them turned to the fifth, the accused, paulwhoisaghost.

"But, I'm human" he stated, "Inner Stickler is far more likely to be plaguing the town than me".

Storyteller sighed, "I'm sorry, but I don't think that is true. Think of it this way, your death will not be in vain, but it has to be this way."

Total Ulla and Inner Stickler moved to either side and held his arms tightly and began to move him towards the scaffold.

"No, it doesn't have to be this way" growled paulwhoisaghost and with casual ease he reached out and threw Total Ulla to one side before turning with a fist to punch Inner Stickler. The fist didn't worry Inner Stickler, but what did was the fact that paulwhoisaghost was now 9 foot tall, rippling with muscles and covered in fur and claws extended

A scream of pain echoed out as the creature casually broke the grip before beginning to slowly bend Inner Stickler's arm backwards.

The pressure stopped abruptly as the Wolf's head was snapped backwards by a well thrown Crystal Ball, which shattered across the side of its face. paulwhoisghost dropped Inner Stickler and looked across at PrecambrianMollusc, touching the side of his face where the glass shards had cut in deeply.

"I'm going to make you regret that. Slowly." Then he turned to storyteller. "But first, I'm going to tear you apart and leave you a bloody pulp listening to the sounds of my rampage."
    "I'm not afraid of you".
"You should be, little man. Tell you what, I’ll give you one punch before I tear your limbs off"

storyteller leaned back and punched with all his might. As he connected there was a sharp yelp from the creature and the smell of burning flesh.

“What the F…” was the cry before storyteller hit him again.

Storyteller smiled an evil smile, as wrapped around both fists were the silver chains of his fallen bretheren.

Paulwhoisaghost had little time to recover from the shock and sensation of his burning flesh before he was tackled to the ground by the other three citizens of the town. Struggling violently, he felt a cord being wrapped round his throat and then they cry of “Pull”.

Unable to move with the other three on his back, the noose tightened hard and he struggled for breath, his claws grasping at the cord biting deep. As he did so, he saw through blurred eyes storyteller stalking towards him and pulling out a silver dagger.

With a stern look he pronounced paulwhoisaghost’s fate. “To keep this town safe, you need to die.”

And with that the dagger fell.

Paulwhoisaghost aka Hostile Dialect aka the Alpha Wolf has been killed by the townsfolk.

As the remaining people looked at each other, they knew the danger had passed and that they were, perhaps finally, safe.

Where can a person see all sorts of variations on the mafia theme? I have a variation in mind, but want to see if it's been done and if it's feasible.

Julie, you could try our pile of old games.

Start with http://www.idlemafia.com, where each finished game is in its own forum. You can see the themes, talk to the creatores even, and read the history for yourself. Most of the rest of our games are i the Games Room at the Dope. Tap into the fund of expertise over there.

Alternately, our little grou['s Wiki is hiding at http://wiki.flyingcowofdoom.com/mafiaWiki/Main_Page.

    PS. Well done Town.

You can also try the Mafiascum wiki for an introduction and lots of variations.

If you want some assistance, PM me and I will see if I can help.

Too Bad the alpha wasn't a female player, else we coulda had the line:

"Is Storyteller gonna have to choke a bitch?"
Storyteller punched out the Alpha Wolf, WoOt! And I TOLD YOU I WAS TOWN, DAMMIT! At least you figured it out on the Last Day that you sold me up the River.... -_-

Good game though. Always good to come back to a W.

So the no kill night was really that , no target elected. We dodged a bullet there although Hostile and Winston were highly likely to get lynched anyway, I think. Don't quite follow why kidv claimed doc, that really outed another scum straight off that bat.

I think Winston screwed up on who he had investigated each night, his initial group did not include Revenant Threshold who he later said he had investigated. At that point his claim was bust.

Actually once I subbed in Winston wanted to kill you, but I needed you to investigate me as Vanilla. If you hadn't I wouldn't have been seen on equal ground with Ulla. By investigating all 3 of the unconfirmed we each had an equal possibility of being the Alpha. It just seemed to me that people would be slightly less suspicious of me if no one had been left uninvestigated.

Again... sorry for not putting up more of a fight. I really haven't had time for it lately... Ulla can vouch... there is some really bad shit going on right now.

I made two big mistakes in my mind.

    1) I didn't protect Julie. I actually said to CIAS that if I was Wolf I would target Julie that night, but I protected story instead.

    2) I forgot that late in the game that the GA was more important than trying to figure out who they'd pick.

Off to go read the forbidden thread.

I'm not sure I really understand why the Wolves false-claimed Guardian Angel. Ultimately, that was the key to the whole thing. It gave Precambrian Mollusc an investigation that was 100% guaranteed to identify a Wolf, and it didn't generate a mislynch or ever have even the slightest hope of generating a mislynch. Remove the gimme lynch of Cookies/KidV (which we might not have had otherwise) and the endgame looks very different.

Yes, CIAS, I enjoyed it. Unfortunately my work season is upon me, and you won't be hearing much from me 'til about November, December. I get to go play real strategy games now.

Not sure if I'm the GA or a wolf, though. I'll get back to you on that.

You're right story, if KidV would have laid low, they would have had a better chance.

I kind of feel bad for Cookie/RR and Paul - I got the lucky sub-part.

Yeah - but it still feel great to win, don't it

And to think when I got my PM I actually complained about having to work harder as a vanilla Town.

And I don't really get the KidV-claim either, but I thought when I subbed in, it had to do with trying to save Winston at first. But that doesn't make any sense... now that I know Paul was the Alpha :dub:

Sorry Hostile Dialect, you don't have to take all the blame for this one.

Watching Winston Smith's claim go up in smoke followed by Kid V's bizarre counter claim, followed by good work from the Seer and GA meant it was always going to be tight.

For the time you did play, you did well and it would be good to see you in another game when life has settled down.
