Default The Cryptic Song Titles Game

I've tried this before on another message board, let's see if it works here. Try and guess the song from the clue... They're all popular music, from a range of genres. Some I think are easy, others are rather tough.

    1. The bucket, we hear, is getting lighter in colour
    2. Mr Scrooge and Johnny B
    3. Hi, I'm a member of this board too
    4. Never in the wrong place am I
    5. Informally greet the green-eyed monster
    6. Ambulating towards the 4th president's lower extremities
    7. Am I permitted to...?
    8. Keeping an eye on Christie's creations
    9. Pose your question to someone else

A couple more right answers, and a couple more "good but it's not the one"s:

    RIGHT SO FAR:
    1. 'Whiter Shade Of Pale' - Procul Harum (BigGirl)
    2. 'Ebeneezer Goode' - The Shamen (Jali)
    3.
    4.
    5. 'Hey Jealousy' - Gin Blossoms (EthelMercaptan)
    6. 'Walking Down Madison' - Kirsty MacColl (jali)
    7.
    8. 'Watching The Detectives' - Elvis Costello (SmartAleq)
    9. 'Don't Ask Me' - Public Image Ltd (EthelMercaptan)
    10.

    A couple of hints:

For #3, think about the different names we've discussed calling ourselves here at Domebo...
#7 is a hit song from the 1960s.

jali: It's not the one I was thinking of, but I can't help but give you that (the one I was after was 'Always Where I Need To Be' - The Kooks).

    RIGHT SO FAR:
    1. 'Whiter Shade Of Pale' - Procul Harum (BigGirl)
    2. 'Ebeneezer Goode' - The Shamen (jali)
    3.
    4. 'Always In The Right Place' - Dr John (jali)
    5. 'Hey Jealousy' - Gin Blossoms (EthelMercaptan)

OK, clues for the three unsolved ones:

    3. What different names have posters here at Domebo discussed calling ourselves (i.e. instead of 'Dopers')?
    7. You might find the Sixties band responsible for this one in one of Domebo's subforums...
    10. The clue refers to one of the Clink's modern-day equivalents...

jali: One of the guesses in the above list is really close. The song is from the noughties - It was a big hit in the UK, used on an advert, I'm not sure if it crossed over the Atlantic or not.

I'll give this one more day then post the answers. Next time I'll try and make sure the songs I choose are well-known in the US as well as here. #10, though, I know for a fact was a huge hit in the US - but the clue isn't really Yank-friendly!

I can conclude that you probably aren't familiar with the song, rather than not getting the clue.

    Here's the missing answers.

    3. 'Bohemian Like You' - The Dandy Warhols
    7. 'Have I The Right' - The Honeycombs
    10. 'No Scrubs' - TLC

#10 - I suspected it probably wouldn't be got by anyone who's not British. The Scrubs (Wormwood Scrubs) is one of the most famous prisons in the country that is currently in use, it's in West London. So, it's not unreasonable to describe it as the modern-day Clink, hence the clue.
