My, we're a chatty bunch of coconuts.
My, we're a chatty bunch of coconuts.
Some of it is the newness; I suspect the high numbers will dwindle in the next few days.
I don't think so, therefore I'm probably not.
I don't think so. I was rather restrained the first few days here. Now that I feel comfortable, I'm back to my usual posting rate of "Oh my God, doesn't he ever shut up?" I think a number of others feel the same way. If we keep adding new blood, this place should reach critical mass by mid-May or so.
"The Turtle Moves!"
I don't think things are slowing at all.
I feel right at home here now.

By my count, it's over 430 users and 4600 posts, so it's not slowing down.
Don't become complacent, people. If you like what you see, and like how the board is evolving, let others know.
This will be a fantastic board with your help.
Even if we all invite only 5 other people-at over 400 posters right now-we'll have over 2,000 posters getting in at the ground floor to shape this board into something truly spectacular.
(Or it'll go down down in flames, but it'll be spectacular either way.)
I know for me it's that it's still small enough that I can keep up. That and I've been posting more just in general.
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. When all you have is a bowel disruptor, everything's a poop joke.

I wondered how fast this board is growing and that's why I decided to record the number of posts, threads and users from time to time. I just started today but I've made a little chart and I could update it from time to time. It doesn't contain anything spectacular so far but perhaps it's still interesting.
As you can see, sometimes there are huge gaps between my data points. Of course you should take the interpolation with a grain of salt. On the other hand the actual numbers should increase slowly and pretty much monotonically. That means that it shouldn't be horribly wrong either. The chart is based on the values as they appear on the index page. Because I record the numers semi-manually the times might be off by a minute or two but that shouldn't make a real difference. The times are in Central European Time because that's what my script wrote by default and i couldn't be bothered to change them all.
Before you ask, yes, I have too much time on my hands -- especially before dawn.
I feel like I get a better sense of who people are here than I ever did at the SDMB. Dunno if it's just the addition of avatars, or a shared sense of excitement at a new venture, or what.

I know what you mean. I feel a stronger connection to the other posters than I did on the other boards.
