Default Phantom Regiment - DCI - August, 2008

Was anybody else watching? Did you buy the video, and is it worth it?

I thought their performance was mind-boggling - they really broke the fourth wall. Neatest thing I've seen in a long time.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. My family (being my parents, my three older sisters and me) were heavily into drum corp back in the seventies. My dad drove one of the corps buses and my mother was a Corps Mom. Me? I was a tagalong until around 1976 when I was 13 and old enough to join the horn line. In 1974, the "Iron Brigade" from Madison Heights, Michigan, a tiny little fledgling drum corp that scrapped it's way around the Great Lakes Circuit every summer, managed to actually get to the DCI finals. We came in last, naturally, but damn, what a ride!

Back in those days the big corps were Phantom, Madison Scouts, Santa Clara Vanguard, Troopers, Cavaliers, Anaheim Kingsmen and a plethora of others that I can't bring to mind at the moment. Somewhere around here I've got vinyl of DCI from the seventies. Ah, good times. Thanks for that memory.
