I was TRYING to explain here why I did (a couple of days ago)participate in the bullshit thread at one time - speaking to 2 people, but will no longer and am posting as much as possible in other parts of Giraffe's board.

Then it's a really good thing I didn't tell you STFU. I told you to stop poking the "they don't like us over there" thing with a stick. It propagates the bullshit idea that there's bad blood. Either you are doing it inadvertently in which case drawing your attention to it corrects the situation or you are doing it on purpose in which case you are shit disturbing and calling you on it corrects the situation. Hopefully. Either way is there really a need to continue it? It was dropped. Not to denigrate your reporting back on your stellar efforts to heal the rift and all since I'm sure people were waiting breathlessly to hear it but can we move the fuck on?

FWIW (I'm speaking as a regular poster here, so feel free to discount my post), I think now's a good a time as ever to let this die. We're over 600 members strong and still attracting new members, as is the other board. Both boards are healthy, and both groups of admins are on friendly terms. The future's looking bright for both boards, and we hope to have some friendly competition with our younger () sibling in the near future.

The longer this talk of rivalries goes on, the more damage to the relationship between the boards there is.

Hear, hear. I don't spend as much time on the Giraffe Boards, but I do pop over there on occasion when this one slows down. It was really valuable when this board was down, too, since I was able to find out what had happened. I'd been for a merger before, but now I think it's time to just let it rest. They're two separate boards, there is no rivalry aside from people bitching about how they think there's a rivalry, and it's actually useful to have them separate, in case one goes down.

Okay NinetyWt, last post and then out of respect to CRSP's request and my own desire to let the whole sordid episode pass into history, I'll shut up about it.

It was the "some that don't like us" comment that set me off. No one among any of the 'Raffers had said anything about "not liking" the DoMer's at all. She even acknowledged at the time that it was only one post and she was probably being emotional, but it made her feel unwelcome. Posters then explained it had nothing to do with the posters here. One person didn't like the formatting, another didn't care for the tone in the thread "People you hope don't migrate from the Dope" and a third was put off by the personal invites although I do not get that one myself. All of which you know because you participated in that thread yourself. I understand jali was emotional. A lot of people were. I think that emotion led to some misinterpretation of intent in some of the posts as "they don't like us."

The Cid was the only person who made the comment "Dumbo" and he was jumped by all sides by posters telling him we don't need to be obnoxious assholes. He showed his ass here, apologized and the entire mess was moving to resolution when jali came back talking about people who "don't like us" dragging the whole thing back up again unnecessarily. It may well have been out of a desire to act as peace keeper but it came off as an effort to resuscitate the rivalry and seventh grade politics gets on my last nerve.

Please close this thread. I was thinking it was past its prime, but it seemed that GB was closed prematurely, and there was still some issues that needed to be resolved.
