Default In which we write hay(na)ku

A few years back I was introduced to a snazzy little poetic form called the hay(na)ku.

I've heard some things described as taking seconds to learn and a lifetime to master.

Well, hay(na)ku takes seconds to learn and, as often as not, seconds to master.

    It's simply this:

    A 3-line poem.

The first line contains 1 word.
The second line contains 2 words.
The third line contains 3 words.

They can also be done the opposite way, with the first line having 3 words, etc.

Titled or untitled, take your pick.

An example I wrote a couple of years ago:

    Cat,
    my toes
    are not kibble.

Another from a series I wrote after going to a baseball game:

    Ear
    to beercup.
    Hear the ocean.

Okay, you have the rules. You have examples. Ready, get set, write!

Edit: I just realized maybe this should go in games. Ack.

    "Guggenheim"
    I believe
    Is correct forum.

But this thread doesn't seem to be taking off. Well, since the board's too new for zombie threads, and your prescribed format intrigues me, I'll try and either resucitate it or kill it outright...

In honor of today's unusual meteorological conditions in the Southeast US, a little trilogy:

    Cable
    is out-
    time to read.

    Sitting,
    ambient light,
    an old companion.

    Listening,
    I hear
    only the snow.

But a series is probably cheating, isn't it? The challenge with this format seems to be getting your theme across in the scope of one outing. Haiku is more forgiving...

    Brevity
    Must be,
    Truly, soul's wit

(Edited to correct spelling of "theme". Sheesh.)

I think a series is fine, especially when they are self-contained as these are.

    Thanks for the attempted rescue.

It's not snowing here, so I'll reference a weather-related scene from a few weeks ago:

    Winds
    come knocking.
    No one's home.

    Trees
    tap tap
    on the window.

    Glass
    goes everywhere,
    especially my foot.

    Skin
    glitters like
    a disco ball.

I'm going to cheat an include long titles (and perhaps lose a little bit of the spirit of the form, but oh well):

Note from William Carlos Williams' Roommate

    Where
    the fuck
    are my plums?

Reflections on the Flag of the Republic of Austria

    Red
    then white
    then red again.

    Spoiler
    alert: it
    was a dream.
