    Default The DoMeBo masquerade party

Because I like a good online party.

Betcha can't guess who I am on SDMB!!!

And conversation: How do we pronounce the name of this board? Is it:

    DoomBoy
    Do me, Boy!
    Do me boy!
    Dome Bow
    Doomeyboy?

I picked the name for "Dopers Message Board". I pronounce it "Doe Me Bow", though others are free to adopt their own pronunciation (as pointed out in other threads, there's a Domebo canyon in Oklahoma, and it's also a Spanish surname, apparently).

I was giving it a Japanese pronunciation (since that seems to have become my default for non-obviously English words). Doe May Bo.

It should be pronouced Doh Me Boh, but you have to use a pronounciation similar to that of the Wicked Witch of The East's guards before they entered the castle:

    "doh ME boh. DOOOHHHHmeboh."
    "doh ME boh. DOOOHHHHmeboh."

I was thinking the same thing.
I'm not good at the advice. Can I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

I've been pronouncing it in my head a bit like "amoeba" but with a D at the beginning and an O at the end.

That intonation has been stuck in my head for years, but I had no idea where it came from! Now my brain can be free!

I'm been pronouncing it in my head as "Doe May Bow" (like Do Re Mi in The Sound of Music).

PM sent. If anyone else is just itching to know, send me a PM (rather than derailing this thread).

I gotta say, if you don't want people to know your username--and I totally understand why, just bear with me here and take this statement literally--you gotta know what you were getting yourself into by starting several threads about it and making a production out of it. I really wouldn't have cared if every other post hadn't been "Look at how well I'm hiding my Dope identity!"

That said, I wish you the best of luck in your reboot. For what it's worth, I'll probably just think of you as TheFlame eventually.
