    Default Paris Attacks

I've been sat here watching the news reports coming in all day and wondering what is going to happen next?

It's a very sad day and my thoughts go out to those affected.

I guess I thought it just needed saying.

Thing don't seem to be getting better. Humanity is not maturing. Extreme Religion is the worse plague in this world currently and it just ramps up tensions and atrocities.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of France. But as shocking and deplorable as these crimes are, and despite what the headlines and cable news might lead you to think, fewer people are dying of violence as a percentage of the world population than ever before (see Harari's Sapiens, an excellent book of anthropology and sociology for laypeople). Taking the long view can be both comforting and encouraging at times like this.

I don't think this is really about religion any more. What they say they follow is an excuse to wield power over the populace and justify their actions.

I think a lot of Muslims have realised that they need to stand proud and say that it's not their religion.

I agree and hope you're right, CIAS. And it's good to have the French flag so prominently displayed here on Mellophant.
