    Default NFL Draft strategy question

Would this be a reasonable strategy:

For each round, have two positional priorities, the lesser 1st rd priority is the higher 2nd round priority, etc.

Sorry you lost me. Are you saying prioritize 2 positions, like Quarterback or Free Safety and if no good QBs take the best free Safety?

Well that is something some GMs have done in the past. Though it is usually several more positions deep. It falls into the drafting for need vs. drafting the best player available.

The hybrid is probably most common:
    * Identify 5-10 positions in need.
    * Prioritize them but balanced vs how late you think you can still get a good player to fill the need.
    * When your pick comes up look at the talent available and try to fill your top need as priority.

Example: In recent years Running Backs have gone from early round picks to a position GMs feel can be filled in the middle rounds. So even if RB is the #1 need you probably will not draft one until the 3rd round.

To the 3rd point: if the priority is LB over TE, and the best linebacker is #8, and tight end is #3' take the TE anyway.
