So, the Weather Channel and other media outlets have been talking about Hurricane Isaac for some time, since one of its projected paths would have put it slamming right into the RNC, but that path has since changed, and the storm should make landfall sometime tomorrow (Wednesday) morning between New Orleans and Mobile.
Guess who lives between New Orleans and Mobile?
As of about lunch time, the water was already starting to rise on our beach, to the point that the police were barricading access to Hwy 90/Beach Blvd. (I saw a guy on a bicycle demand of a police officer why the beach was closed, and the officer looked at him like he was nuts and asked "Have you seen the water?")
We've been getting some pretty epic gusts of wind, but nothing sustained as of yet. The rain had also been intermittent up until about an hour ago, but it's still not sure if it's a drizzle or a downpour.
We spent lunch (a local pizza place that opened just because they knew people would want to get out and about before they got stuck) snorting at the Weather Channel. Their anchors, in their matching red dresses, seemed vaguely confused.
