    Default Greetings from Landmass!

So, the Weather Channel and other media outlets have been talking about Hurricane Isaac for some time, since one of its projected paths would have put it slamming right into the RNC, but that path has since changed, and the storm should make landfall sometime tomorrow (Wednesday) morning between New Orleans and Mobile.

Guess who lives between New Orleans and Mobile?

As of about lunch time, the water was already starting to rise on our beach, to the point that the police were barricading access to Hwy 90/Beach Blvd. (I saw a guy on a bicycle demand of a police officer why the beach was closed, and the officer looked at him like he was nuts and asked "Have you seen the water?")

We've been getting some pretty epic gusts of wind, but nothing sustained as of yet. The rain had also been intermittent up until about an hour ago, but it's still not sure if it's a drizzle or a downpour.

We spent lunch (a local pizza place that opened just because they knew people would want to get out and about before they got stuck) snorting at the Weather Channel. Their anchors, in their matching red dresses, seemed vaguely confused.
So, I'll whisper in the dark, hoping you'll hear me.

Take care of yourself Marsilia! I hope the water stays in places where water is supposed to be!

    Thanks guys!

Apparently, the storm's made landfall once already, right around the mouth of the Mississippi River. But, it's ginormous and the Coast is squiggly, so the thought is that there will be a second landfall at some point in the next few hours. We still have power (obviously), and everything seems like it's going to be fine. The only real inconvenience has been that the animals are all stuck inside like we are.
So, I'll whisper in the dark, hoping you'll hear me.

I hope everything goes ok...we're supposed to get a ton of rain from it all the way up here in Chicago. Stay safe!

So, all this rain and wind has apparently not been the real storm. That should hit us sometime tomorrow morning.
So, I'll whisper in the dark, hoping you'll hear me.

So, the B&N opened at 3:00 and I've been inside it the whole time, so I'm not sure the rain isn't still going. If it's not, it's going to feel like the inside of a mouth when I leave tonight.
