    Default R.I.P Harry Harrison

Another of the golden age Sci-Fi writers has passed away. Harry Harrison, author of the Stainless Steel Rat series, and many, many other sci-fi novels has died aged 87.

I really enjoyed his books and he will be missed.

Boy I enjoyed those books when I was in my teens and 20s. He was a fun writer. I haven't read anything by him in years.

    Here's his bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Harrison

Looking over his bibliography, I see I only ever read two of his books. Bill, the Galactic Hero was a wickedly funny spoof of sf military adventures like Starship Troopers, while Stars & Stripes Forever was IMHO a gawdawful Civil War alt-history novel.

But may he rest in peace.

The Stainless Steal Rat series is a good light-hearted Sci-Fi Spy series. Worth the read though hardly deep or moving.

I've heard about the series, of course, but never got around to reading any of 'em.
