    Default Pancake Day

It's Pancake Day, more formally known as Shrove Tuesday, or even Jif Lemon Day in the UK because of clever advertising. Regardless, it's THE day for eating pancakes on and not just normal pancakes, but all varieties of pancake topping as well.

So other than just lemon and sugar, what are your favourite toppings and what do you add to the batter to give a pancake an extra kick. Personally, I would be adding a splash of Southern Comfort, but I don't have any at the moment.

Where I grew up, this is Paczki Day.

But I will have no access to paczki today.

Jam doughnuts rock. I can get behind Paczi day! As for pancakes I've been craving them with icecream and chocolate sauce but not having them today so maybe sometime after Lent.

I thought it was Fat Tuesday. King Cake would be appropriate if I was in N'Orleans.

I've never heard of lemon on pancakes. Interesting concept. We tend towards maple syrup or fruit syrups in the US though I like peanut butter and jams.

First thing my son asked when I came home was about lemons/lemon juice.
No I forgot to buy any and also hadn't realised that it was Shrove Tuesday.
    Paczki sounds an excellent alternative.
There are lots of Poles in this area but I am not aware of any dedicated Polish shops, will have to ask my Polish colleagues tomorrow.
Are they much different to common or garden doughnuts

Someone brought paczki to the office today. I passed, but they looked awesome.

Looks like I'm not getting any pancakes this year. Wife's leaving macaroni and cheese in the warming drawer when she take the kid to tae kwon do.

Did get sausage on Ground Hog Day, though.

Lemon ricotta pancakes are pretty common.

I've never heard of pancake day. Or paczki day...

Lots and lots of Paczkis sold at the local bakeries today. I didn't get any myself, but only because I never got a chance to pick any up. I'm making Jambalaya for dinner, which is of course a New Orleans thing, always appropriate for Mardi Gras.

We got a King Cake in the mail so it will be N'Orleans style for us. Terrible for my diet but very cool of my BIL.

Broke down and microwaved a couple of leftover pancakes for a nighttime snack. Felt good.

I wound up making a giant Yorkshire Pudding instead of pancakes, which was still yummy.

I'll probably make pancakes tonight though.

I love that a Russian word for pancake, блин, is also a mild cuss.

Nobody else wanted lemon and it seemed a waste to cut one just for me, so a couple of ham'n'cheese and a syrup one to finish.

Don't think I'll get any today, unless I microwave a couple for dessert.

    Oh well, always next year.

Sorry, old story I read about Irish hard times. Every body ate taties, but the Da had a herring that he'd point at the children's food for flavour.
