Heroin comes to mind, but I think drug references like that are probably utterly crap now thanks to Twilight.
Any food that might lead to overindulgence would work, but again it's probably overdone.
Clearly, your metaphor should in fact be "a baby." So cute, so irresistible, and then it ruins your life and poops on you.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.
