OK, and now a really weird story. I was just searching for live performances on youtube, and ran across one I'd never seen before of Pearl Jam performing their song "Porch." It got me to thinking about how much I loved their debut album, and as great as some of their subsequent albums have been, I don't think they even matched what they did on that first one. Which gave me the idea for this thread, and then I thought surely the first post had to be the Beatles, so I start searching for a picture of Meet the Beatles, while I'm still listening to this live performance of Porch. They get to that bridge in the song where it gets kind of quiet, and then Eddie starts singing "I Want to Hold Your Hand," which is, of course, one of the songs on Meet the Beatles. How weird of a coincidence is that?! Kinda freaked me out.

Oh, Porch. I haven't thought of that song in forever. That is a freaky coincidence, Sarah!

Radiohead's debut album Pabo Honey remains the torturous, agonizing soundtrack to my puberty. Listening to it is like a suckerpunch of all the crap that went on in those years. It has one of their biggest mainstream hits on it (Creep), of course, and though OK Computer is probably their most iconic album, the status of the first one can't be ignored.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

Instant classic debut albums? Look no further than punk rock:

This is the only one I heard in the last decade although a lot of people would go with the Arcade Fire's first one.

I once found an old issue of a guitar magazine that included a review of this. It was almost hilariously pretentious in trying to damn with faint praise about how this was a pale imitation of more classic stuff.

Is it just me, or is every Pearl Jam studio album almost imperceptibly weaker than the previous one?

For the cover of Satisfaction alone:

Yeah, I would agree with that.
