Kriegspiel thread of Lt. Vaudreuil - WES keep out!
First move: White pawn, C2 to C4.
I make no claims to being a good, let alone a great, chess player.
-
You forgot that text can be seen on mouseover - fortunately it will not matter for very long.
After move 1, Lt. Vaudreuil can see this: (Black King included as the editor will not allow me to remove it, position not guaranteed in future of course.)

Hey, thanks! Will you be doing that for each move? Otherwise I was gonna set up a board here at home to follow along.
White pawn, E2 to E4.

Vulcan eyebrow lift.
To date I have been showing the Black King on e8 with no guarantee that it is there; this time, given the announcement, you can be sure that it is not on d8. But remember, it is only the limitations of Chesspad that oblige me to admit it is on the board at all.

Did you think you had a bishop on c4?

No. I just thought that an early onslaught might bring a quick win. We shall see.

You now see this:

I will now castle, which would leave the white king on G1, and the white rook on F1, correct?
-
Yes. Pic follows as soon as Photobucket obliges.

Thanks. White rook: F1 to E1.

White pawn. G2 to F3 to capture, if there's anything there.
-
You would be told if there was a pawn capture available.

Ah, I didn't realize that. OK, then:
White pawn, B2 to B3.

White bishop, as far along the line from A3 to F8 as it can go before hitting something. When it hits something, stop there.
Or, if I can't give orders that way, White bishop, A3 to B4.
Let me know which order is acceptable, please.
-
The first order is acceptable, with the proviso that you will be told "You may not" once each for as many of the following are illegal, in order: Bf8, Be7, Bd6, Bc5 and Bb4 - and your opponent will also be able to hear this. If you're agreeable, I will execute this.

Very well, Mr. Malacandra, and thank you. Pray proceed.

12. Bf8 it is then, hitting nothing but fresh air all the way.

White bishop, F8 to H6, or stop and kill anything on the way.

Could you update the graphic, please? I'm away from home and my board.
-
Sure.

Thanks. Didn't I lose both of my bishops, though?
-
No, your light bishop has moved once and then sat there - it's your queen that bought the farm.

Do you mean "Re1 - b1"? You have no Rook on d1.

Oops. Yes. White rook, E1 to B1. Thanks!

White pawn, B3 to A4 - capture?
-
No. Two attempts remaining - if you list them in the order you want to try them, I will evaluate them in that order.

Hmm. OK... B3 to C4, or failing that, H2 to G3. Thanks.

No pawn captures, eh? Crap.
White bishop, E2 to F3.
