    Default Red or White

Its strange but when younger, on those occasions where I had to drink wine, it was invariably white, couldn't stand red, it just seemed to taste dry and wrong.

Nowadays, I seem to have almost grown into the taste of red wine and will enjoy it on the same level as white, in fact in some situations it is definitely preferable.

So the question is, to you Mellos, Red or White?

I'll drink both, and it depends on the situation, but generally I much prefer the greater body and complexity of a red.

If I was choosing without it accompanying anything, I'd go with a red. Like Rube says, there's more complexity to it.

I voted blech. The wine I can stand is always white (muscats, rieslings, and other sweet things) however I really don't like wine. I keep drinking it occasionally, hoping I'll develop a taste for it. It just keeps not happening.

Nine times out of ten, I'll go for a merlot, but depending on the meal, I won't say no to a crisp, dry white.

Given the choice, I usually go for red, but I do love riesling, too.

Our wines of choice around the house are almost always red - Merlot, Cabernet, Shiraz - but we do like a dry Riesling, or a champagne, now and then.

I regret that I have but a childlike understanding of wine, but of the stuff I've been served, I've enjoyed the reds more. Darker, deeper, drier works for me.

Did everyone grow out of the super sweet and sickly wines like Leibfraumilch as they grew older?

Heh, when I was a teenager, Ontario was full of strange, sweet, "wines" with names like "Baby Bear" and "Lonesome Charlie".

I grew out of them, but I'm lucky they didn't spoil my palate forever.
