Default Who should host the Oscars?

After the general calamity that was last years Oscars with Anne Hathaway and James Franco anf the news that Eddie Murphy has stepped down from presenting it, who could possibly step in and make it the great celebration of film it should be.

Should they go back for Billy Crystal?

or go for someone like Bill Murray or Alec Baldwin?

Personally, I want to see them hosted by the Muppets.

Who do you think should do it?

Neil Patrick Harris. Anyone else is just settling.

I would actively avoid watching if they had Billy Crystal hosting. I enjoy him all right in movies and Soap, but his hosting is horrendous. It feels like a particularly bad night of Bingo at the retirement home when Uncle Benny tries to do stand-up between games.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

To people under 30, Billy Crystal is "that guy who used to host the Oscars all the time" in the same way that Phil Collins is "that guy who sang on those Disney soundtracks."

Here's my theory: Eddie Murphy "officially" dropped out, but he's secretly going to host it anyway, just reprising all his "fat suit/cross dressing" roles from the Nutty Professor movies. It will take the combined efforts of ten makeup and costume specialists during commercial breaks to keep him rotating through the five alter egos. It will be hailed as a comedic and logistical tour de force, and the Hollywood press will rise as one, proclaiming...

Then again, Eddie Murphy could have been secretly nominated for an oscar and won it, which means whe would not be able to present as well.

I'm not sure what's the worst thought, that the Oscars are fixed or Eddie Murphy winning an Oscar?
