I found a copy of "Batboy of the Giants", from 1949, in the used bookstore.

    For ten bucks.

I remembered I still had some leftover Kung Pao chicken I'd made the other night, which desperately needed eating. Mm.

I got to talking about Palm Springs with a co-worker, which led to a pleasant 5 minute fantasy where I moved to the desert and bought a pick-up truck.

I had a lot to do at court today before a four-day weekend trip visiting some Civil War battlefields with friends, and I got it ALL done. And pretty damn well, too, if I do say so myself. Woohoo!

I was able to fix a nagging Win 7 issue that has been annoying us for the last 8 month or so.

Also, I've had a hard, thick callous on my big toe for about 5 months. It was starting to peel and become quite uncomfortable. Emery board didn't affect it at all. So I used a block of wet-and-dry, and now my toe is nice and smooth again

Oh, and today it was waking up to discover that the Orioles and Rays had both posted come-from-behind walkoffs and the Red Sox were not in the playoffs.

That was as exciting a regular season finish as I ever recall. Red Sox blowing it just after midnight and 3 minutes later Tampa winning. The Braves game was really exciting too. They had the worst collapse ever record for about 30 minutes before the Sox broke it.

Yes, I managed to enjoy even my Yanks blowing a 7 run lead.

I laughed, Sarah. I just couldn't come up with something witty to add.

So I hope that makes you happy again, Sarah.

I got to work today to see three stuffed Angry Birds on the counter. One was the black "bomber" bird. It's my favorite. It now lives at my house.
So, I'll whisper in the dark, hoping you'll hear me.

It's not much, on an otherwise crappy day, but I can't help but feel a little happy that the Yankees are out of the playoffs.

Sorry, jim, but that's how we roll in the rest of the AL East.

Today I had a good talk with a friend, a fine dinner with several friends, and an interesting visit to an art museum. Now there's a pleasant cool breeze through the kitchen window.

Saw this on another board this morning and it brightened my day with a gigglefit:

there is no such thing as correct grammar. it is just something to make people feel bad about what they are doing. correct spelling??? so some are saying that they are smarter than my computer in spelling???. just becuse it is not the word that you like dose not mean that it is not correct spelling.
It's true. Dose is not the word that I like.

Had two hot dogs with sauerkraut and brown mustard for lunch today, with a small bag o' Cheetohs and some very cold water to wash it all down. Made my tummy very happy.

Today I stuck food in the ground and it's going to turn into more food!

Eighty-two cloves of garlic in the ground and some nicely rotted hay on top to keep it toasty and safe over winter.

Walking home with my kid, saw a rabbit run and hide in a flower bed. Then, turning around, we saw the probable reason why: behind us, in the middle of the street, in broad daylight, the biggest fox I have ever seen.

Had to work today, which did not make me happy. But, when I got home, I found that when my kid got up, he was hungry, so he just made himself pancakes. Didn't microwave, cooked himself pancakes.

    He's growing up.

Cool. My son and I are doing an all out cleaning of his room. When we are done we will have probably filled up all 4 garbage pails, a grocery bag of paper recycling and 6 grocery bags of clothes donations and a t-shirt overstuffed with new rags. There should if things work out actually be open space in his room again. We are now at the half way point and I have enough room to actually be organizing as we go. The closet is next and this is where a lot of good will and garbage will come from.

Finished sorting my backlog of printed photos. This is a chore, and I hate taking new pics until I have the old ones organized.
