The covers thread gave rise to sax players and reminded me of Candy Dulfer, who I thought was the best thing since...

Here with Dave Stewart, a local boy, went to school with my best mate (who thought he was a wanker).
My son met him while they were both in a guitar shop and they got on really well together.

Bought the new Fiona Apple CD (The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw And Whipping Cords Wheel Will Serve You Better Than Ropes Will Ever Do) and have played little else since. She never fails to astound me even though I was expecting to be disappointed, hardly able to credit the fact that she could continue to improve.

This deserves much better equipment than computers and the YouTube version is hardly the best.

    The full album is here.

    Its earworm time again.

Love the house in the video and good to see Ms Dynamite back.

I have a liking for the song "Pie Jesu" and had watched Anna Netrebko, Sissel, then Hayley Westenra, all superb. Among the comments someone posted, "If you like this then... and pointed to Jackie Evancho.

I expected the usual YT rubbish but got the shock of my life. Just could never expect anything so sublime.

Needless to say that I spend an inordinate amount of my days watching/listening to her now.
As with many others that can be seen in the audiences, she brings tears to my eyes.
    An incredible young lady.

She sings songs that I would otherwise pass over and sings them so incredibly well that I return to them time after time, also have all available recordings. Can't seem to get a copy of her "Songs From The Movies" PBS Great Performances concert though, and she has apparently just performed her third PBS special.

Apart from her incredible voice and musical skills, she appears to be a rather exceptional person, very mature for her age, remarkably polite, charming and grounded.

A teenager now, she is becoming a very beautiful and gracious young woman and her voice continues to improve, unlikely as that sounds.
