Default The official favourite Harry Potter character

Publishers Bloomsbury ran a poll to find out who were the favourite Harry Potter characters in the muggleverse.

    The top five were

    1. Alan Rickman Severus Snape
    2. Hermione Granger
    3. Sirius Black
    4. Harry Potter
    5. Ron Weasley

Yup, that's right. Alan Rickman turned the greasy git into the best Harry Potter character.

If you'd asked me after about the fifth book/movie, I would have agreed with this list pretty closely. Ron and Hermione really started to bug me after that.

I'm sorry, the correct answer is a tie between Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood.

Sorry, but you appear to be under the impression that they were looking for the well developed characters who actually grew up through the books and seemed like people.

"Not Ron" would have been sufficient.

I still maintain that Neville truly was the hero of the entire series.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

And, as numerous readers and reviewers have pointed out, just as valid a candidate to be the Chosen One as Harry himself.

I don't think JK Rowling is capable of the plot twists which would have allowed Neville to be the chosen one. Considering Neville stayed in Hogwarts to protect everyone while Harry went camping across the country, he's definitely a bigger hero.

Rumour goes that the reason Snape got such a lousy death in the final book was because Rowling hated that Rickman had turned the greasy git into such an interesting character.
