Perfect.
Not your favorite, not even necessarily great...just tight, well produced, satisfying.

I have a couple:
Penny Lane
I love how the horns surround the perfect harmonies on this song. The song is both big and tight.
Love Song - The Cure
A tight Goth/alternative single. Who knew? Catchy as hell, yet still a little dank sounding. Love it.

I was just listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge," and thinking how well it was done, with the little guitar strums under the vocal. Very cool song.
I would nominate "Stairway To Heaven", "American Pie", "Imagine", " "
Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles. They essentially handed the Beach Boys their hat with that one. A perfect pop song.
I think each of these tunes, so different in many ways, are each just about perfect in their own way. Love 'em! The first two have lyrics; the second two don't.

This would have been one of my first four or five choices. Others:
Bruce Springsteen, "Born to Run." It's not his best song, but it's quintessentially Bruce. An amazingly well-crafted statement of purpose for a 25-year old songwriter.
The Beach Boys, "God Only Knows." The most perfect pop song ever.

- Lou Reed, what else?
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.
Heh. My sister had a smartass teacher who once started a class by saying, "Sorry I'm late. The streets were jammed with broken heroes on a last-chance power drive."
"God Only Knows" is prominently featured at the conclusion of the British romantic comedy/drama Love Actually. Check it out.
- Def Leppard
Shut up. You know I'm right.

Simon is a killer producer, and this song just winds around itself. Lots of layers, yet it's still catchy and fun. Great to play very loud. Infectious instrumentals.
