Clearly I need to start watching movies in Texas.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

If I ever find myself on Austin, this is on my must-visit list.

I think I'll have a Once Upon a Time In Mexico Wrap with an Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager and a slice o' peach pie with my movie. And no texters.

    Such a brilliant idea.

    If I may say:
    1. Anyone who doesn't know that it's rude to do something that turns your cellphone screen onto a bright setting in a movie theater deserves to be booted. If you haven't noticed the elaborate pre-film clips begging you turn off your goddamn phone and not talk or text, there is something wrong with you.
    2. It is not that dark in an Alamo Drafthouse. There is enough light for the servers to take and bring orders during the movie, mmkay.
    3. Alamo Drafthouse actually has good food, for serious.

One of the few things that can truly ruin a movie, someone playing, answering or texting on their phone.

We always have notices before a movie starts that says to turn your phone OFF.

artifex, something I'm having trouble understanding is, how is it that having food and beer served during a movie is less annoying than texting? I'm digging the smackdown on the texter, but what's the overall movie watching experience like?

I haven't been to Alamo Drafthouse for a while, (no longer live in TX, for one sad fact), but I didn't see it as particularly disruptive. The theaters aren't set up as tightly as a regular movie theater - there's a row of seats, a long table that runs in front of that row, and room to walk between the table and the next row of seats. IIRC you order before the movie starts, and if you want something during the movie, you write down your order and stick it in a little holder, server comes by and picks it up, then brings it quietly. I always really enjoyed going. There's a constant low level of light, they aren't turning lights on and off.
