Default The IT Crowd, a good Britcom. Any watchers?

Netflix has this available for streaming and so far it is pretty good. Not great but pretty good. It has geeks, insane HR people and one fairly hot IT Manager that knows nothing about IT. It has 4 seasons in the can now and 1 final one coming up apparently. This being a Britcom means 30 episodes when it is done.

Anyway, if anyone else has seen it I though it would be worth a thread at least.

My wife and I are both enjoying it. Moss reminds me a bit of Sheldon from Big Bang Theory and actually precedes by a small bit.

It's on my to-watch list. My friends have been giving it rave reviews.

It has moments that are brilliant and some that are cringe-worthy. It reminds me of BBT in that way and the geeky humour.

I've never warmed to it like I suppose I should. Some of the characters are quite funny but it's not really laugh-out loud to me like things like Father Ted were.
But I'm someone who's not into Big Bang Theory either.

I've yet to watch Father Ted, I will eventually try it.

It was huge here, for obvious reasons, but was also popular in Britain where some of the cultural references were less obvious to the audience. Not sure how it translates across the pond though.

I'm a fan. It's well worth the investment of time, and while each ep might not be great each season has enough great moments to keep me eagerly coming back.

Dunno how it would fare if I had seen TBBT first. But I do like British comedy, so I'd probably like it either way.

Thank you for this suggestion. I've never heard of the show but in light of the comments in this thread it sounds like a winner for my family (we love BBT).

We're in season 2 now. Still enjoying it. Much like AllWalker said, some episodes are not great but all seem to have some gems.

We watched the pilot. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. Pilots are rarely any good, though (MadMen being a notable exception). The pilot of BBT was pretty terrible, for example. We will keep on for at least a few more episodes to see if we get hooked.

It was ep 2 that hooked me, specifically the first few minutes.

That was pretty brilliant wasn't it. But it was the fire extinguisher that really won me over and the screen saver.

Yes! We watched episode 2 last night. The emergency call number and the screen saver jokes made all the other less-funny humor fairly painless to sit through.

Posting again after this thread has been long quiet to say that we just now watched the first episode of season 2, and it was hilarious. Having read many of the debates on the SDMB about whether you should use the handicapped bathroom or not, and whether that is akin to parking in the handicapped parking spot, I was particularly amused. Would Jaime/Ambivalid like that episode, or be offended by it? I don't know, but I thought it was hysterical.

That's cool AG. What other shows has he done.

I'm looking forward to the final season. I'm not sure when we'll get it on Netflix.

Father Ted was the other more famous one. I think he was involved in Black Books too.

    Dude, that's awesome.

When this thread was up the first time around, I hadn't seen the IT Crowd. Now I have. The Dungeons & Dragons episode is a particular favorite.
