Default Should Sarah Palin run for Republican Candidate?

The Republican field is wide open and despite everything she still has a very wide media presence. Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump are not in it, so the field is wide open for someone to come through to represent them.

But it would mean giving up her media commitments?

Is it worth it? Could she win it and then go head to head with whomever the Democrat candidate is? Would it be better to stay in the media and pass comment from the sideline.

I'm probably not a terribly good judge, because I deeply loathe the woman, but I don't think she's considered a serious politician any more.

I mean, she quit her job as governer, that's pretty damning.

Most recent polls I've seen indicate that she is viewed negatively by almost 50% of the voting population.

That doesn't leave much room for the much-needed undecided voters who usually end of determining the outcome of an election.

I don't follow U.S. politics that carefully anymore, so I'm having trouble figuring this out. A few months ago, she was this terrifying figure who seemed to have huge momentum.

Now the conventional wisdom seems to be that she's a joke with no chance.

    What happened?

It's been a little longer than that; her real terrifying phase was 2009, right after the election. Since then, she's become more and more of a laughingstock thanks to numerous family scandals (most tawdry rather than truly damning), and stepping down as governor after barely half a term on the job.

She was always a weak candidate but truly scary if by some set of circumstances she won. Someone a lot dumber then Bush the Lesser is frightening as a potential VP or President.

As a Democrat, I welcome her candidacy! Plus, Tina Fey could always use some more exposure. But I think she, like Trump and Huckabee before her, will decide that the private sector is more appealing.

Exactly. In fact Quayle being added to the ticket made me vote off in '88 after voting for Bush the Elder in the primary. As his first major decision was choosing a moron was a running mate, I could not vote for him in the election. One of the times I voted a third party.
