Default A test for how long you will live?

A new test has been developed and about to be marketed which would hope to give a rough estimate of the time left remaining in your life through a simepl blood test.

It works by testing telomeres, which sit on the end of chromosones and wear away with time. The theoery goes that the longer the telomeres the longer you have to live. If the telomeres have worn away then the cell is damaged and will die off.

Now, this is going to be just one factor, given that an unhealthy lifestyle, a massive drinking habit or smoking 100 a day, is more likely to kill you before your cells die out. But this could give an outside limit to how long you will live even if you are trying your best.

    More on the details here

Regardless of the science behind this, and whether it is valid or not, would you be interested in taking a test like this and finding out how long you have left to live?

I'm kinda depressed already as I think about how little quality time I have left, and how I could have used my youth better. I really don't need scientific data about how doomed I am.

I can see no way for this information to do me any good. The last thing I need is something to make me more neurotic.

Yeah, no thanks. File that under things I don't need to know.

I especially don't want to know if I am going soon.

Want to enjoy the time until then, not plan for it.

I'd rather not know. I try to lead a healthy lifestyle, but of course could never be sure I won't be hit by a bus tomorrow anyway. No point getting paranoid about it.
