Default Glenn Beck's daily show to be dropped

It seems as though FOX network have had enough of the falling ratings, disappearing advertisers and general outrage caused by Glenn Beck and his show is now on the way out.

Does this mean the Republicans have lost a major voice or was he becoming more of an embarassment to the party and who is likely to replace him in his show?

From what little I've seen, his show had primarily become him ranting bizarrely in front of a blackboard. Between the boycott that pulled so much of his advertising and his shrinking ratings, it's hard to take him seriously as a major voice for American conservatives. Those who follow him are pretty dedicated, but it doesn't seem like there's all that much influence outside of those followers. He'll probably continue exclusively on radio.

I'd guess they'll want to replace his show with something more in the Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity mold. More mainstream conservative and less theatrics.

I think Glenn Beck was a joke and Fox realized it. For a while he pulled in ratings and dollars and made Bill O'Reilly seem much more reasonable too in the process. So Glenn has had his run and the dollars have slowed down a lot and out he goes having served his purpose. Actually it is kind of refreshing that the biggest idiot pundit on the Right has lost his prominent TV gig as the biggest buffoon (though not an idiot) on the left Keith Olbermann lost his prominent TV gig. Maybe, just maybe the exchange of ideas on air will become slightly less hostile and silly.

Fascinating observation about Beck and Olbermann. And I agree that while Keith was far from being the maniacal moron Beck is, he was certainly the most left person with that much reach.
