It should be interesting to see how well Rand's explorations of rational self-interest translate to the screen. To try to cover the entire book it's being split into three parts.

There's actually quite a bit more to it than just a struggle between the union and industry and that clip does a good job illustrating one of Rand's central ideas, which is against the use of force. Rand's view was that Dagny would never force the workers to do something dangerous they didn't want to; she'll only take volunteers. It's the union that would want to force them to remain "safe", regardless of what risks they'd be willing to take. It's all about (her version of) rationality and allowing for self-determination.
