This, lovies, is why "cute baby" contests are fucking evil.
So, I'll whisper in the dark, hoping you'll hear me.
Also, you always think your own baby really IS the cutest. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I really did think my son was preternaturally adorable as a baby. Now that he is nearly 13, I sometimes go back to his baby pictures, expecting to see this a-MAZING moppet whose cuteness is off the charts. I look at his pics and think, "Hmm, this must not be the photo I was thinking of, because I remember he was unbe-fucking-lievably super cute to the hundredth power, but this photo? It just looks like a normally cute kid ...

Yeah, it seems a little unhealthy to me that parents would do that with their kids to begin with. If I had a young child like that, I imagine I would my kid from as many ugly things in the world as I could, until they were old enough to start defending themselves. But really? People feel so insecure they have to verbally attack young children?
I hope it hasn't reached that point yet. But expect it to happen if you start down that road."It's almost like an American beauty pageant ...
