Well, India was just too good for the Aussies, despite Ponting's century.

Should be one hell of a semi-final between Pakistan and India, both teams looking good for it.

The knives have been out for Ponting since the win over Canada. This century may save him, but I doubt it. He does have 'the full support of the board', though.

I agree about the Pakistan v India, it should be a cracker. Now that Oz is out I don't care who wins, just as long as it's not New Zealand.

Having said that South Africa are currently doing their best impression of someone needing the Heimlich manouvre performed on them.

    and South Africa choke. AGAIN!!!!

New Zealand go through at their expense, and a stage further than the Aussies have done. Definitely some bragging rights there I think.

Also, given his final score, I think Ponting should retire from all forms of the game and call it a day. It's a high of sorts to end on, even if it was in a losing cause.

Sri Lanka look to be cruising to victory over England. Early days yet, though.

I agree you about Ponting. Another in a long line of Australian batsman that have been allowed to hang around long after their talent has left them.

Well, that was a cricketing lesson from Sri Lanka for England. Completely outplayed through the match and they do look good. I think New Zealand are not going to fancy their chances having seen that display.

My guess is that it will be a Pakistan vs Sri Lanka final.

As a follow on from the Wold Cup, it looks like Ponting has reisgned as captain from the Test and ODI sides. He will continue to pay as long as ability continues, which is still more than others, but without the added burden of captaincy.

I think the timing was right for this and with luck he can have an indian summer like Tendulkar.

And so it has come down to the final two: India vs Sri Lanka

Of the two, I would have to pick Sri Lanka, for the excellent bowling attack and decent batting lineup.

India probably have a stronger batting line up, but their bowling has been a weak link in their games.

It should be a close match. I'm thinking India, myself.

And so it's all over, with another close match but India taking the final prize. No 100 for Tendulkar, but for Jaywardene instead and a couple of great knocks from Ghambir and Dhoni.

Hopefully, the next one will have some of the Associate nations there, instead of limiting it to just the Test nations.
