    Default Organ Trail

See, it's like the Oregon Trail only with zombies.

I just started playing tonight, but I don't know if I'm going to make it. My party consists of Zuul, Marsilia, Rabbit, hobbler, and Sarah. Marsilia and Rabbit have both been bitten by zombies, but I can't bring myself to kill them.

I just had to shoot Marsilia.

But the rest of my party is doing okay. Yay!

I forgive you, Zuul. If you hadn't shot me, I might have eaten your brain.
So, I'll whisper in the dark, hoping you'll hear me.

I'm just glad our friendship has an "in case of zombie infection" clause. Really, every relationship should have one.

...oh, Sarah wandered off and we couldn't find her.

Oh man, I had to shoot 2 of my party and 2 others wandered off. And then I died just outside of SLC. How ignominious.

Aw, that sucks. I took it slow (stopping for five hours every night), got a lot of med kits and foraged a lot, but I still lost two party members. We managed to make it all the way to Oregon, though.

If you can keep the bitten members of your party in good health, you don't have to shoot them.

... Resting at night. That would have made sense.

Yeah, I made it through with three folks infected but they all lived. Couple of close shaves. On the last leg I was out of med kits, had one infected person down, and 100 oz. food. A few hours from the end I ran into a trade - 85 food for 2 medkits. I made it, tried to scavenge, but got almost nothing. Rolled into the finish with exactly 1 oz. food remaining. (And a lot of ammo. Didn't realize I wouldn't need so much).

I kind of wish there were some alternate routes to take, or even a river ride from The Dalles.

I can't help but feel like this is significantly more difficult than Oregon Trail.

Yeah, even with all of my foraging I still ended up with something like 300 bullets by the end. I'm going to try it again and put a little more into food and med kits than bullets. They're useful, but they just don't go very quickly.

It does seem to be a lot harder than Oregon Trail. It sounds like they're still adding stuff to it, too.

I made it through on my second try, but only with a 2/5 survival rate. Food is the big thing; it's impossible to buy enough and scavenging is a pain. (The number of times a shopping cart popped up on the opposite side of the screen from where I was standing ... argh.)

Whoa, I really lucked out on my second try. I kept finding abandoned cars, so I ended up with more money at the end than I had started with.

I seemed to have the best luck foraging at times when the zombie activity was low, so I foraged at 3AM and 6PM. If I didn't get a shopping cart on the first time I'd do it twice. Starting at 10PM when the zombie activity became high I'd rest for five hours every night. I'd stocked up heavily on medkits, spare parts and gas at the very beginning, since I could forage and bullets don't go fast.

    At the end I had:

    5 conscious people
    23 fuel
    6 spare car parts
    9 medkits
    115 bullets
    $347.00 cash

And it took 328 hours to travel.

I tried playing this after you posted it to FB, but I got frustrated really fast. Like Orual said, I felt like it was more difficult than Oregon Trail. I might try again with those tips, though.

I succeeded in getting 4 living people to Oregon! And I don't think there's anything I could have done about the one person wandering off. \o/

No, the wandering off is a totally random event. They go and...that's it.

No, you were presumed dead. I couldn't stop and look for you.
