The Basque Separatists Eta have declared a permanent end to their violent activities in the region of Spain.

Since their political wing was banned and their effectiveness has been lessened by several high profile arrests in France and Spain, perhaps this time they will actually look at a democratic means or pursuing their goals.

They still want a separate Basque nation comprising the areas in France and Spain, but who knows if it is even feasable any more.

Of course, this isn't the first time they have declared a permanent ceasefire, so it may not even hold. Here's hoping it does.
